To celebrate the continuation of the blog....

Here is a new graphic for all of you!!! A banner to use anywhere you would like to :)

Photobucket

Thank you to those that emailed me about the previous post!

So I've done some thinking and this is what I've come up with. Andernation will NOT be deleted. It will remain up, I will just have a limited role in it for the time being.

Who knows...maybe one day I can watch CNN and not want to throw something at my tv (I've actually have watched a few times here lately, so I will consider that progress), and actually blog.

I would however like to get back into the graphic portion of the blog, and start to make more Anderson graphics (he's still a nice sight to see!)

To all of you that continue to stop by, THANKS! I'd also like to ask for your patience as we're making the transition of trying to get everything sorted out.

Sorry folks, but I dont think I can do this....

I don't think I can work on the blog any longer. I'm tired of CNN and almost everything associated with it. However, I will say this...if anyone is wanting to take it over and keep it up, I'll see if there is a way to transfer ownership. Please email me if you're interested.

Today In Our Nation's History...

There isn't really much I can say that probably every other American isn't thinking or feeling. This day in our history as Americans should ALWAYS be remembered, and NEVER forgotten. This day taught America so much; from it's vulnerability, to it's amazing power to rally back. It was trully amazing to see how patriotic we Americans can be after being hit so hard and experiencing extreme pain as a nation. However, it saddens me that it takes that kind of tragedy to bring out our patriotism as a country.

So what emotions stir up deep inside me on this day? Many to be honest. Saddness, shock, reverence, hope, and anger are just a few. I'm sure each and everyone of us could put together a massive list of how this day makes us feel emotionally.

I for one love this country, sure we have our problems, but let's face it what country doesn't? John Wayne summed it up when he said:

"Sure I wave the American flag. Do you know a better flag to wave?
Sure I love my country with all her faults.
I'm not ashamed of that, never have been, never will be."
--John Wayne

I hope that Americans around the nation will put their political differences aside today and realize that there is so much more to life here than political parties;I hope that so many people can get rid of this "it's all about me" mentality as well. What can YOU do to better this country? Stop focusing on yourself all the time and look around you! A random act of kindness is contagious and can go along way.

This country is better off than so many, yet there are people that are suffering in this country like so many in others. We are NOT perfect, nor will we ever be! Change is gradual, I hate the thought that so many people think that who ever takes the office will radically change America. Reality check, it will not happen.

But I digress, this post isn't about that, it's about remembering all those people that lost their lives on this day in history, as well as to remember all the men and women who have stepped up in order to defend our country.

So I pose two questions for all of you to think about.
  • One, is America to big to fail?
  • And if we do, who will step up to help us in our time of need?
To all international readers:
I hope this post doesn't come off the wrong way. I also want to thank you, if you took time out of your busy day to remember America in remembering the pain we felt as a nation. Even though I may not post entries like this for other events that have happened around the world that have hurt other nations as this one did to America, I do remember them and send my thoughts to everyone.

Thank you all for reading, have a great day/evening.

a little bit of everything....

Okay, maybe not EVERYTHING, but just a few things on my mind. I'll probably add a more cohesive post concerning some of these topics.

Anyone keeping up with the Caylee Anthony case? I try to catch the latest on Nancy Grace, and I'm so ready for the case to come to a conclusion. I don't know what to think anymore, but all I know is that it sickens me when someone can hurt a child.

To all you football people out there, enjoy the season! My best regards go out to Tom Brady as he's out for the season with a knee injury that will require surgery.

Other than that I really don't know much about what's going on. Anyone care to share any topics of interest feel free to do so!

Banner

Hey all, I made this banner tonight. It's a "Friends Only" banner you can use on Livejournal (that's the only sites I've seen these types of banners on, but feel free to use anywhere you are able to)

Brief Politics

I'm going to keep this brief for many reasons.

  1. I'm tired of politics at the moment; who cares if Sarah Palin's daughter is pregnant, I know I don't.
  2. I want more from a candidate/vp candidate than a good public speaker....some people are born great speakers, other learn to be...doesn't really give insight on what I want from a candidate
  3. I rarely talk about politics from a personal view point. It's one of the few things in our lives that we are NOT obligated to share and can keep to ourself.
  4. I'm tired of hardcore people on both extremes of the politcal spectrem thinking that they can go all off and "speak for the rest of us". Sure I'm big on free speech, I'm not saying they don't have the right to do that, it's just quite annoying.

So I watched bits and pieces of both the Democratic National Convention as well as the Republicn National Convention; and well I really don't know where I stand on the political scale.

Feel free to share your views and opinions of both conventions here. Remember to be respectful of other's view points; what you think may not be what the next poster may think, and it doesn't give any insight into their competency or awareness, or anything like that, just their entitled view and opinion on the subject manner.

What we have here, is a failure to communicate...

Hey folks. Once again my apologies for the lack of content on the blog. Life is hectic for everyone, and well like the title states there has been a lack of communication on my part with the other contributors (due to various reasons which aren't important.)

But I wanted everyone to know that I have not even thought about closing the blog down (I would HATE for it to come to that) I really felt like this was one of the few "drama free" blogs out there in the Anderson Cooper community, and has always been open to both consenting and dissenting opinion about the topic at hand.

I'm open to suggestions for the blog, if people WANT it to stay up and running (which I hope is the case) then it will.

Also, if there is anyone that has free time and would like to join the team, let me know! (I'm huge on team work and would love to get a great group of people to help revamp the blog and get it back up and running) I would really like to have individuals that can focus on one aspect of the blog. For example, people specifically geared to graphics, people specifically geared to AC360, a person that can focus on picture of the week and random anderson polls, as well as picture of the months, etc.

If you want to express your concerns, suggestions, and comments on the entry go for it, but if you feel the need to express them in a more private manner just use my contact table to send me a message.

I hope everything can work out and we can get this blog back to where it was when it first opened.

Jealous of Anderson?

Yes, I'm jealous of Anderson. So I'm sitting here watching Shark Week when I get the heads up that The Shot of the Day is about Anderson and his latest PIP segment with sharks.

So why is Rita jealous? I've always talked about wanting to dive off the coast of South Africa in a shark cage and witness the majesty and beauty of the Great White Shark; and where does Anderson happen to be...South Africa...in what...a shark cage filming Great White Sharks....

most of you will probably be jealous of the shark getting that close to the cage with Anderson in his wet suit...and all you need to head to the naughty chair! ;)

Anywho...just thought I'd check in. I think I'll start working on some Anderson graphics; so leave your suggestions here or send me a message via my feedback form :)

Random poll and New Anderson Wallpaper

So I too have been a horrible blogger (way more than the anyone else combined) and here I come posting a poll un-related to Anderson. (shame on me, I'll go the naughty chair...hehe)

It's so pathetic what an accent can do to a girl hahaha Accents are my weakness I'm officially putting that high up on the list. A person could talk about how they changed the battery in their car for all I care haha. So I decided to make a poll with a few of the one's I've personally have heard. So cast your vote for sexiest accent!!!

Please choose up to three (3) accents :)

Sexiest Accent
Scottish
English
Irish
Spanish
French
Italian

yes I have been a bad blogger

I am sorta pissed off a Google.

Anyhow, KUDOS to Anderson for a job well-done last night with the ( good) breaking news about the freed hostages. The broadcast was his best" breaking news" coverage in a long time. He showed compassion and sincerity when talking with the families of the former hostages. It was amazing. I had tears in my eyes during the entire broadcast.
In other news: AC 360 has, for the second economic quarter in a row......beaten Greta's ratings over on Fox News. Coop blogged about the ratings, and thanked us viewers for our faithful viewing.

And, here is some Ander eye-candy for all of you. His piece on the Congo gorillas shall re-play this Sunday on 60 Minutes.

Picture of the Week 6/29/2008

Hey folks, hope your weekend got off to a good start. As for me, mine has turned out to be quite a sad one. I just learned today that my priest passed away. He served at our parish all through my childhood and gave me my first communion. He was the kindest, sweetest, gentlest man you'd ever want to meet. When you think of what a priest should be, that was what he was like. He was the kind of priest who made it seem like anything could be forgiven. If you told him you had killed your mother, he probably would have said, "don't do it again!"

He had retired quite a while ago, but I would run into him from time to time. The first time was at the local Ladbrokes. I went there once a year to bet on the Kentucky Derby. When he saw me he got this shocked and appalled look on his face and said, "what are you doing here?" Without missing I beat I shot right back, "what are you doing here?" Realizing that I had a point he let out a little chuckle. He also worked at the local food pantry (aka soup kitchen). Every once in a while I would see him at the grocery store when he would stop to pick up food to take to the food pantry for the poor. Usually it was in the parking lot where I would run into him and he would always stop and greet me with an enthusiastic, "Chrissy, how are you?". He was one of only a few people who called me Chrissy. (They are all gone now too). Then he would give me a big hug.

I guess there won't be anymore hugs for me.

God Bless him! He will always go on in my heart. Hopefully, the tears will not.

From a holy man to an angel, enjoy the picture.

lunch time recap

The 360 headlines were once again dominated by politics. I barely got througfh the hour, Clinton and Obama's attempts to pull the wool over supporters' eyes was sickening, but at the same time good for a laugh. I don't think these two are capable of doing what is good for our country, and it scares me how many people in this country have drank the Obama Kool-Aid. Do we REALLY think that Clinton and Obama will work together? I agree with the commentator who said that this " unity" is all just politics as usual.

However, I did enjoy Christiane Amanpour's report from North Korea. It made sitting through all the political shop talk bearable.

not politics as usual

Of course there were politics on last night's 360 but this timeut the story had an interesting twist. The had a panel on analysing Barack Obama's comments and the comments made by Dr James Dobson. I am NOT a fam of Al Sharpton at all, but I must say that he, Roland Martin and Tony Perkins all had some decent, respectful dialogue last night. Often when the topic is politics and religionand one has three very diverse views on the air together fireworks errupt . But this did not happen on the show last night. Kudos to the men involved for not turing that 360 segment into a screaming match. It was also noted that AC was used as a rhetotical example during this dialogue. I am not sure how Coop felt about having his stake in the hereafter discussed on international television, but he handled it well.

We all know that Don Imus is a bigot.

Gary T is still wearing wader pants in the Midwest.

Erica is back and she tried imitating the models on the " Price is Right" using the new beat 360 t shirts.

Enjoy the screen cap!

Lions and Tigers and Imus O MY

Don Imus needs to keep his trap shut. I am not surprised at his blatently racist comments, but I am disgusted by them.

Ok, enough of the story on the teen pregnancy pact. We get the drift. Some girls in Massachusetts wanted babies and apparently did anything to ensure this fate. Move on with the next scandal, shall we? Please!

More politics, but after all this is an election year and the fat cats at CNN think that this is important. Yes the future of our nation is important, but I do not think we viewers need to know every misstep that McCain and Obama make from here on to the general election.

I am not gonna survive until the convetions. let alone all the way until November. I overdosed on politics back in March.

Picture of the Month, a little late?

Okay, I admit it is not a little late, but a lot late. Due to a severe lack of organization, I never published the Picture of the month poll results for April. So, if you're interested, you can see the winner here: http://andernation.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2008-06-16T18%3A31%3A00-05%3A00&max-results=7

Plumpynut and live blog

If anyone missed Sunday's 60 Minutes, Coop's piece on Plumpynut ran again. I've seen this piece when it first aired, and it moved me to tears. If anyone has any screen caps from this segment, I'd love to see them. I am horrible at getting screen caps of anything.

I am also glad to see that I am not the only one annoyed by the silly posts on the live blog.

Picture of the Week 6/22/2008

Hey Folks, hope everyone is having a great weekend. It was a fantastic week of AC360. It sure is good to have Anderson back. It's just not the same without him. Sorry, guys. I call em as I see em.

How do you like the new AC website? I have to admit I miss the blue. The most important thing though is having Anderson blog. I miss his blogs. I know we all give up our New Year's resolutions a few days after we make them. But I really wish he would keep his since it affects us. No one else cares if you stick to your diet, get healthy, or organize your house. His resolution though.... well, we like his blogging. Blogging or no... it's good to have him back safe and sound after his travels through Africa.

Now it's time for the picture of the week. Enjoy!

Win a t shirt!

Yes the flooding goes on unchained in the American midwest. Gary T is still up to his nipples in brackish water and its Presidential politics as usual on CNN. But at least the silly season politics is no longer the lead story on 360. Sadly, it take a natural disaser of this magnitude for the 360 bigwigs to forgo politics as usual on the show. Obama of course shall say that the Republicans will pull the race card in the general election. But is he not doing the same? I agree with the Republican strategist Anderson had on the show( but her name eludes me right now) . Barack Obama is one of the biggest racists in public service!

The story on the pregnant teens in Massachusetts set of a fire storm of comments on the live blog. Go read it for yourself, there is actually a worthwhile discussion on there. I do not live blog, but do peruse the comments every day. Usually it is a bunch of baloney, but every now and again there is a good discussion on the live blog.

Tom Foreman, filling in for Erica, made a good first-time appearence on the live blog. I think he added to and kept the conversation there on-topic and fruitful.

Also, starting Monday there will be more incentive to play along with the " Beat 360" game. Winners shall now recieve a ( very cool) " I beat 360" t-shirt! Of course the color is Cooper-eye blue. My hope is that other folks not just the folks who are ALWAYS on the live blog and get posted, will get an opportunity to win these shirts! One of the reasons why I do not participate in the live blogging is that the same peeps hang out there every night and usually dominate the conversation.

New Fan Site & 360 review

Yessss, Anderson Cooper fans, there is an awesome new fan site up and running. :)

It can be found at http://www.theanderworld.com/. Two of my friends are the webmasters and they have been working hard to make this one of the best new Cooper fan sites on the Internet. Please, if you have time, go check it out. Please leave them feedback.

My verdict? Good work, ladies!

Last night's 360 was one of the best since this political season opened. I am glad to see that it did not TOTALLY focus on politics. The situation in the US heartland is only going to get worse before it gets better. But I appreciate Gary T's reporting from the field( wet as this particular field is right now) Presently I am so sick of Presidential politics that I ALMOST didn't watch 360 last night. In my opinion it is totally unfair to put BOTH candidates' wives under scrutiny. I also liked it when Candy Crawley summed up Obama's reasoning for opting out of using public funds for his campaign. " Duh." Candy is the best , most savvy political reporter that CNN has, and it was fun last night to see her more lighthearted commentary.

The story about the missing feet washing up in Canada is GROSS. Yup, there are some twisted people in this world.

Erica had the night off , and it was fun to see Randi Kaye in the studio with Cooper. I am a big admirer of Randi's work on 360 and glad to see that she is getting some well-deserved face time! She is a hard worker and one of the best correspondents on the 360 team.

Finally, the " Shot" was hilarious. I am glad to see that Gary T has a good sense of humor.

Wednesday, June 18, 2008

He is Baaaaack!

It was a great show last night, in spite of all the politics!

Cooper was in Africa when I was away on vacation. Now that we are both back I shall return to my 360 analyses.

Oh gosh, I am so sick of Obamamania! And CNN's Roland Martin has for sure drunk the Kool-Aid. So has Dave Gergen.

My heart goes out to all the folks affected by the flooding. Kudos to reporters Gary and Dan, I hope they stay safe.

When Gary T brought those trophies to that young woman in Iowa, I teared up. There is an example of a reporter going above the call of duty. Dan Simon also had a good " front lines" report.

Randi Kaye's piece last night was excellent, and I am NOT an Obama fan at all. I think Randi is one of CNN's up-and-coming younger journalists. I'd actually like to see CNN useher more often. She does such good work for 360.

B and W Coop

I dunno if you all have seen this one o yet or not. I hate to sound all fangurly, but the man is just beautiful, both inside and outside. Have any of you all checked out his " Reporters' Notebook" on cnn.com today? Go do so if you have not yet.
He looks so pensive in this photo.
The 360 blog says that the Coop shall be back tonight. Read the " Morning Buzz" entry for today and see for yourself.

Monday Blues

First, I want to thank you for the touching comments you made about your fathers. Some of them brought tears to my eyes. I know it's sometimes hard to talk about this stuff, so I appreciate that you chose to share. Thank you!

We often hear people say to appreciate people or situations while we have them. Sometimes it's hard, some people aren't demonstrative and keep things to themselves. We always think we will spend lots of time with our loved ones and have these special conversations and intimate, special moments. However, if our loved one is quiet and not talkative, or if they are already to the point where they are not interested in this world, those special moments become hard to come by. We try our best and have to just accept that "that's how it is".

I don't know about you guys, but I dread Mondays. Today was twice as bad, coming after a bad night. I had a horrible dream and although I often have them, this one not only scared me but my mom as well. She woke me up and asked what was wrong because I was moaning and yelling out in my sleep. Someone was trying to grab me or something and I was trying to get away or something. It was really strange and scary. As luck would have it, it had to come on a day that I had to get up because we had an appointment to get to. Hopefully, Anderson will be on and chase away these blues. He is usually very successful at chasing away my inner demons.

Now on to AC360, they've been advertising tonight's show quite a bit so I hope we get a little more than 30 seconds of Anderson. Although I appreciate whatever we get. Unfortunately, no more blogging so far. I wish he would blog more, especially when he's away.

Here's a glimpse of tonight's program: http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/anderson.cooper.360/

Picture of the Week 6/15/2008

Happy Father's Day! I wonder if it is a bittersweet time for Anderson, missing his dad and all those father/son moments children are entitled to. Perhaps it is no big deal to him as he was so young and didn't have all that many days to celebrate his dad. I know Anderson would make a great daddy and hopefully one day he will have the opportunity. I know there surely are a few out there who would be honored to make it a reality.

For me, I am conflicted about the day. When my dad was here, Mom always suggested what to get him for a gift. I'm not sure if she was afraid I would forget or ignore the day, or if she was just being helpful. Either way, we had a cake and gifts and celebrated the day. Now I would rather ignore the day but the retail industry doesn't let up on the reminders. I knew Father's Day was soon but I didn't know exactly when. I was fine with that. However, the death of Tim Russert took care of that blissful ignorance. Time after time, they mention how he was taken just a few days before Father's Day and how much more tragic that makes his passing. I didn't watch his program all the time, but I happened to catch the one where he was talking about his book "Big Russ". Tom Brokaw was on and more or less interviewing him. It was a well done and riveting program as he talked about his father and the father/son relationship. It's nice when someone that so loves being a parent gets the opportunity. I sometimes wonder why God lets so many of us who truly want to be parents and would cherish their babies endlessly, are denied the chance. Hopefully, that will change.

It's an odd thing, our relationship with our parents. No matter how good or bad, close or distant, demonstrative or not,we miss our parents when they are gone. Even if we aren't sure if we were loved, or how deeply, we still miss what should have been, what we wanted the relationship to be. It's just a fact of life, our parents are supposed to be there. It is the way it's supposed to be.

Wherever Anderson is, I hope the day isn't too painful for him and that he remembers the good times he was able to share with his Dad. I hope he remembers the love he was given and the sweet memories and that these feel his heart and bring him some comfort. I'm sure his dad is looking down and watching over him.

just to clear things up a bit

I think Soledad Obrien is the best sub for when AC is not on the show. She is personable, intelligent and knows whats she is doing. I think that she has a bright future ahead of her, and enjoy her exit polling coverage on the primary nights. I also like it when John King fills in for Anderson.

Anderson Blogs From Cameroon

I thought I'd blog in jungle green today in honor of Anderson's trek into the forest with epidemiologist Nathan Wolfe. He didn't include anything personal in today's blog, unfortunately. I don't blame him after all the judgemental comments after his last blog. Hillary Clinton

So far today there is no blog from Anderson. Maybe all the critical remarks about his taking Ambien turned him off and he's giving up on blogging. Why spend time blogging if people are just going to judge you and criticize you? Of course, it punishes those of us who like reading about his experiences, thoughts, and what he's up to. It's especially nice to hear that he arrived at his destination safely and that he's okay. I'm glad they are doing a second Planet in Peril. I enjoyed the first one immensely and bought the DVD so I can watch it anytime I want. I'm also curious to know how they know which gorilla is the head of the clan and why his predecessor was replaced. I guess even in the animal world there is no job security and the one on top gets knocked off their pedestal eventually.

Tonight on AC360
Where to now?
Photobucket - Video and Image HostingFor more than a year Chelsea Clinton's been

on the campaign trail stumping for her mom. But now that Hillary's
out of the race, what's next for the former first daughter? ... More politics?
I am confused. Why do people, the media, have this impression that since Hillary Clinton isn't the nominee, her whole family is now floundering and looking for a purpose in life. Chelsea was employed before her mom began her campaign and i'm sure she has gone back to it. It seems logical that she either saved up vacation time or took a leave of absence to join the campaign. As for President Clinton, he has his foundation. This man doesn't need anyone to give him a purpose. Here is a private citizen who holds world summits and world leaders attend and become involved in the various causes the summit addresses. Hhe holds a summit every year and over the years, attendees have included such world leaders and distinguished guests such as, Tony Blair, then Prime Minister of Britain, al Gore, Kofi Annan, His Majesty King Abdullah of Jordon, Mayor Bloomberg, First Lady Laura Bush, among others. Bill Clinton does not need Hillary to be the presidential nominee to be important, respected for his accomplisments, or to be involved. He does perfectly fine all on his own. For more on Clinton's foundation, follow the link: http://www.clintonglobalinitiative.org/NETCOMMUNITY/Page.aspx?pid=1399&srcid=-2

Anderson in Rwanda

According to the 360 blog, Anderson is in Rwanda. It is a sneak peak of the second installment of the Planet in Peril documentary series.
Anderson blogged about hiking to see a group of mountain gorillas that have never been seen by tourists. He wrote that about half of the silverbacks are routinely visited by tourists, whereas the other half are only studied by scientists. It's great to have Anderson blogging again. It's an interesting read, follow the link: http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2008/06/09/andersons-view-gnawing-on-ambien/

Hillary is out: Its official

It is official. Hillary Clinton's camp says she will concede this week. Now I do not support her at all but I sure as anything do not support Obama. But at last this long primary season is OVER! I know I am voting for McCain regardless, and I hope that the rest of the contry comes to its senses regarding Obama.

In a perverted sort of way, I am enjoying " Operation Chaos" .

Yes, I know I am among the minority when it comes to AC viewers. I am decidedly more conservative than most viewers, and I sure as heck am not gonna back down. I have been bullied on Myspace from other Cooper-related groups and am happy to ( as of tonight) not been cyberbullied here.

It pisses me off( sorry for the language) when folks say that Coop is partial to any one party or candidate on his show. I've been a viewer and a fan of his since his days at Channel One, and he makes a point NOT to disclose his views on politics when he is working. Last week he even blogged about this very topic, apparently someone used his name in connection with a candidate for McCain's VP slot. Anyone who knows AC's work knows of his professionalism.

Tonight on 360 we will get another hour full of politics. Ugh. But now that Hillary concedes hopefully the 360 staff will get off of the Presidential politics' bandwagon. I am hopeing that we shall hear some more from Erica about Coop's birthday yeaterday. Dave Gergen mentioned it last night on the program, and Coop seemed embarassed. He has said in the past that he really does not like to make a big deal about his birthday.

Its Obama

Well, Anderson was on the CNN political coverage last night, so I watched it. But I cannot say that I am happy with the results of Obama .I think that the " cult of personality" is what brought Obama to the nomination. Although I am NOT A HRC fan, I feel strongly that Obama's political campaign is all rhetoric and no substance. But I do agree with Jeff Toobin, HRC needs to bow out. For better or worse the race for the Dems is over. I thought that Obama's speech was all about style and no substance.

Will he pick HRC as his running mate? Will a " dream ticket" help the Dems in their bid for the White House? John Roberts was at the famous " magic wall" showing viewers what an alleged dream ticket might do for the Dems.
There has been talk of HRC taking this nomination fight all the way to the convention. I hope not, as I know I am not the only American who is sick and tired of endless politics on 360 and other cable news shows.

By the way, our AC clearly does not know what it means to be someone's " boo"! Did you all catch the giggles from the pundit table last night! It was worth watching just to hear that famous giggle and see that smile that Cooper graces viewers with every now and again.

And speaking of Cooper smile, I posted yet another pic of AC and some lucky muppets! Isn't this adorable?

Cooper and Elmo

Yup, you read that correctly. Here is a pic with Cooper and Elmo, the furry guy from " Sesame Street".

I watched a bit of last night's 360 when I was waiting for my plane. Politics , politics and more politics. Thank goodness tonight is the last primary. Anderson, along with other CNN political personel, shall be on tonight analyzing all the angles of this last race. Will Hillary exit gracefully? My guess is no. What is McCain's strategy for clobbering Obama in November? Stay tuned and find out.

By the way....HAPPY 41st Birthday Anderson.
EDIT by Rita:
I think this should be the pictures of the week, so it is :)

Cooper Blogs: The McClellan Scandal

AC himself finally graced us with his presence on the blog today.

The topic was mostly regarding last night's breaking news on former White House Press Secretary McClellan's explosive book detailing some alleged " wrongdoings" of this administration. Now I am not gonna choose sides on this blog , I will follow Coop's lead and let the blog and the new information gleaned from tonight's show guide you all.
Check out the blog post on the 360 site.

Coop also states that he has not, and never will, endorse any particular candidate for office. Now I know a lot of folks accuse Coop and CNN of a liberal bias, but frankly when it comes to the Coop himself, I see no on-air bias from him. Now when it comes to bias from the pundits, yeah I admits TONS of pro-Obama bias. Roland Martin is one of the worst offenders . I respect Anderson for many reasons, but one big one is that he does NOT choose sides in anything he covers. This is very hard for a journalist in any media or/and market to do. we all do carry our biases.

Last night's show was good, but what I wanna know is why Billary is still making headlines with its ridiculous alllegations of some sort of ' cover -up". Conspiracy from whom, one might ask, the far left? HAHAHAHAHA!

fun with an Anderphoto!

Here is an Ander-image from last night's show. I used Imagechef to add the graphics. Go to http://www.imagechef.com/. I added the graphics and the text to the image.

So , why is the famous Mr Cooper still wearing the silver ties? Note that again he wore a tie that matches his hair.
Last night's 360 was pretty good, in spite of the lead story being one of more Billary Clinton antics. " Is there a "conspiracy theory" against the fair Clintons? Hmm, I will risk showing my age to say that this is a familiar Clinton refrain. It seems to me that when the stuff is hitting the floor for Billary, they cry " CONSPIRACY THEORY!"Sorry, Billary, I don't buy that drivel.
It seems that the Republican nominee-in-waiting has a pastor problem all his own. However, I do not think that McCain's ties to Hagee are nowhere near as damaging as Barack Obama's ties to J. Wright. Obama still has the pastoral albatross hanging around his head. McCain's association with Hagee is one of a political notion. McCain pointed out that he was and is NOT a member of the church where Hagee preaches.
My thoughts and prayers are for those who were affected by the horrible storms in the Midwest. Wow.

Memorial Day

I thought you might be interested in this article on CNN's political coverage. There are some comments by Anderson included.
http://www.thestar.com.my/columnists/story.asp?file=/2008/5/24/columnists/stateside/21337015&sec=stateside

I will post the picture of the week as soon as I can. My friend hasn't been able to make screen caps due to technical difficulties.

I hope everyone has had a nice Memorial Day weekend.

lunchtime treat & review

Here is something YUMMY for all Cooper fans. I pulled it from another Cooper fan group to which I belong. I have tried, but I can NEVER Get good screencaps of anything. The best screencap I've taken of Cooper happened to be with my phone's camera.

What is it with him and his silver tie(s) lately? Not that I am complaining, but his ties seem to be following a monochromatic theme lately. Haha.
The screencap was from his stint on yesterday's " The View" Since I do not watch hat show, I missed his segment. I'd never watch that show anyway, as Barbara Walters and Joy Behar annoy me. Joy Behar's voice reminds me of chalk( yes I am that old, m'kay) on a blackboard. " "The View" is horribly skewed to the left, even with Elisabeth Hassleback's presence on the show.
The rare look into the FLDS school was interesting. Is it just me or is every FLDS member go by the last name Jessop? And the fact that they are so loyal to that wacko Warren Jeffs, their so-called " prophet" is scary. I feel sorry for those people, as they are truly brainwashed.
Moving along to another topic: the live blog. It annoys the crap out of me. Some of the posters stay on topic and post intelligent comments relating to the stories on 360 but others just post stupid, meaningless drivel which I am surprised the moderators let by. Ugh. If you wanna know of which I speak, go to cnn.com/360 and check out last night's " Live Blog from the Anchor Desk". It seems to me that most of the " regulars" have nothing relevent to say at all.
Topic number three: not ALL politics. FINALLY! Last night's show was pretty well-blanced. Of course they led off with political stuff but then we got a nice balance of other material.
I miss the " What were they Thinking" segments. Whatever happened to those, they were some of the best moments on the show.

Sad Diagnosis for Sen. Ted Kennedy

There was sad news on Sen. Ted Kennedy's condition today. He has been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. On Saturday, he suffered a seizure and was hospitalized. No decisions have been made on the course of treatment which would include radiation and/or chemotherapy.

Jack Gray, AC360 Associate Prod. blogged about the only surviving son of Jack and Rose Kennedy. It is a touching account of what the senator and his family mean to many Americans. They are truly our royal family. you can find the blog entry here: http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2008/05/20/memories-from-kennedy-country/

Our thoughts and prayers are with the senator and his family in this trying time. This family has suffered so much tragedy throughout the years, I don't know how they've survived all the heartache. Yet, they have not only survived it, they've accomplished great things along the way. They've never forgotten their fellow citizens, but have always worked to help those in need.

Please include Sen Ted Kennedy and his family in your prayers in the coming days and weeks. It's now our turn to support this family.

Picture of the Week 05/18/2008

Time again for the Ander-picture of the Week. I don't where this picture came from but it is really cool. It just shows that no matter where on earth, what ethnic group, or what the style of clothing; he's still sexy and breathtakingly handsome. I believe the french word is "seduisant"! He is definitely that. Enjoy!

if this picture is yours, let me know so I can credit you.

Friday's night's show

Friday's show was excellent. It was not total politics and it also showed updates from that horrible earthquake in China. I feel so sorry for those poor people.
The sparring between John McCain and Obama was interesting, much more so than the usual Democratic blubbering( sorry) we've seen on the news lately. Now maybe the candidates can focus on ISSUES rather than petty personalities?

The update on Warren Jeffs and the FDLS sect was also insightful. Is it just me or is Jeffs uber-creepy?

I also loved how John King was part of " The Shot"I guess no one is safe when Erica and Anderson co-conspire! hahaha. It was wonderful.

Today is my birthday and I just HAD to share a great birthday card from my Myspace pal, Cathrin. Danke! I love it and hope you all do as well.

My apologies....

Hey everyone, first off, my apologies for neglecting the blog; to Chris and Mac a huge thank you for keeping it up and running! I've just been so busy with "school" (I'm working as a substitute teacher, for the remaining school days) as well as a few days at my other job, and then these past few weeks have been busy with doctor visists and staying anxious about my results (nothing too major, finally decided to go back to my orthopedic surgeon), and to top it all of it's the playoffs. My Spurs are facing the New Orleans Hornets in the western conference semi-finals and it's do or die for both teams-winner takes all in a highly anticipated game 7 down in NOLA...the pressure is on and hopefully my spurs can pull the win on the road (something no western conference team has done throughout the semis)

Anywho, I plan to make some wallpapers to make up for my absence, so keep checking back :)

A Great 360

I'm looking forward to AC360 even more than usual. Apparently, there is a big brouhaha over some comments made by Pres. Bush in Israel against Barach Obama. I didn't leave it on long enough to find out what was going on. I'll wait until Anderson covers it.

So, did you all like last night's AC360 as much as I did? Being a Hillary supporter, I obviously enjoyed the segment airing her interview with Wolf Blitzer. The part where Wolf asked her about Chelsea was especially moving. She clearly loves her daughter deeply and vice versa. I totally forgot how long Wolf Blitzer has known the Clintons. I believe he was White House correspondent during the Clinton administration. He has literally watched her grow up. Perhaps that is why he got the interview as opposed to Anderson or anyone else at CNN.

The images from China's earthquake were very disturbing. In particular, the one with the little girl who had just been rescued. You could see in the photo that she was crying and reading her lips, she was calling out for her 'mama". It broke my heart! What made it even more emotional is the fact that after thinking about it, you realize her mama may be gone. Her whole family could have been killed in the quake. How many more will die in the aftermath? Elderly men and women who need to take medication on a daily basis will succumb to their heart conditions or diabetes. Lack of clean water will also contribute to the worsening situation. They need our prayers and the aid organizations need our money. For a list of organizations, follow the link: http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2007/impact/china.myanmar.html

Finally, the scorn Anderson felt for the guy who was selling the Obama 08 T-shirts was palpable. The look on his face told it all. I'm not posting his name because honestly, I just don't remember it.

A few yummy screen caps from days gone by. May 1 to be exact. I couldn't decide which I liked better, so I posted both. Have a great evening.

that silver tie( again)

CNN's " silver fox" seems to favor silver ties as well. Not that I mind, but what is with the monochrome look lately, Cooper? :)
I almost watched all of the political coverage last night, I made it until halfway through the second live hour until I had to go to sleep.

Talk About Things

Although many of us are tired of all the talk about politics, I was kind of into it tonight. Did you catch Anderson's comment, "that's what we do on cable television, we talk about things!" I loved it! I also liked the mix of contributors tonight, neither side was overly weighted for one candidate or the other. I didn't mind Lanny Davis, but I noticed many others did. Paul Begala is good. He is a Clinton supporter, but doesn't seem to annoy people. Maybe it's the way he injects humor into his commentary that helps.

One thing I don't understand on the election, why does John King keep splitting the West Virginia vote 65/35? Obama doesn't have 35, he only has 29! I'm so confused.

Now for those of you who are ready for a new challenge, here's a new puzzle. http://www.jigzone.com/puzzles/83139D0E588?m=D025092D44.71181A2&z=6

Wolf B is no AC

Sorry, but Wolf B annoys me. And when he was subbing for the Coop on Friday I did not even bother to try to watch it. Ugh. The man rambles, and is not easy on the eyes at all. Yuck yuck yuck.

Also, I just want to go on the record( journalism shop talk) as saying that Cooper attracts viewers accross the political spectrum. Just beacuse one is a admirer of Coop's work does NOT mean that one sunscribes to a certain political idealogy

Picture of the Week 5/11/2008

Sorry for the delay, but it was worth waiting for. I'm sure many of you have seen this one before. It is from Anderson's layout in Vanity Fair. If I remember correctly, it was taken by Annie Lebovitz. She is an amazing photographer, even when the subject isn't as amazing as Anderson. I don't think it's possible for Anderson to take a bad picture. If one exists, I haven't seen it!.

A bit off topic, if anyone knows the music played during the Valspar paint commercial, could you let me know. It sounds very familiar to me, but I can't think of where I heard it before. I know, it's a strange request.

Now for the picture of the week.

Mother's Day Sunday

A down-in-the-dumps Friday was bad enough, but then it got worse; no Anderson on AC360. I wonder if he's on his way to Burma, spring allergies got the best of him, or he's spending the weekend celebrating Mother's day with his mom. Maybe I should try and look on the bright side, at least now I can get some extra work done around the house. If I don't get my gardening done now when the weather is nice and cool, I'll never get it done once it's humid and unbearably hot. Frankly though, I'd rather watch Anderson.

For all of you out there lucky enough to be moms, I hope you are having a very Happy Mother's Day. Enjoy your babies, whether they be young or old, small or full grown. To a mom, her children will always be their babies; whether we like it or not!

I hope Anderson and his mom, Gloria Vanderbilt are having a nice day together. We thank her for sharing her son with us. He has brought a great deal into our lives and brightens our days considerably. We thank her for having two great sons and for sharing one of them with us.

All of us, moms or not, can use a little eye candy; so here's a puzzle. I will have to postpone the picture of the week since Photobucket is not letting me in. They recommended we change our password and now I can't access my account. I will post it as soon as possible.

Happy Mother's Day

yummy Anderpic

I know I am not on this blog a whole heck of a lot, and for that I apologize.

The situation in Burma continues to go further down, apparently the food aid sent to that country has been seized by the military junta.

On a lighter note: here is a yummy Anderpic for all to enjoy!

Haha what is he doing, directing a choir?

Thursday, May 08, 2008

so will he or won't he go to Burma?

So, will he or won't he get to go to Burma? ( or Myanmar, as the country is now called)

Knowing how much the Coopster loves to be in the thick of all the action, I am betting that he will go. I am not surprised that he is having trouble securing a visa, as the government over there is not exactly friendly to the West. But last night the report via satellite from their feild reporter there was excellent.

I was REALLY glad that they were able to establish contact over there and 369 breaked from politics-as usual! THis story of the crazy storm which killed over 100,00 people is IMHO more important than more of the same in the game of US politics.

Anderson Blogs: Disaster in Burma

Anderson blogged this afternoon about the cyclone in Burma, now known as Myanmar. Apparently he is still waiting for his visa so he can get in to report on the disaster, as are the numerous aid agencies. I have the strange feeling the government isn't going to let anyone in. This storm has played right into their hands. It has killed two birds with one stone, so to speak. The reporters who want to let the world now how the government in treating its citizens can't get in and many of the anti-government protesters may have been killed. Those whose lives were spared will be too busy trying to survive and won't have the time or inclination to protest. To read Anderson's blog, just follow the link: http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2008/05/07/what-exactly-is-happening-in-burma/
There are also a couple of other blogs on Burma as well. You can access those from the main page of the blog or from the link below: http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/category/cyclone/
Don't forget to vote for the picture of the month, either scroll down or click on the link: http://andernation.blogspot.com/2008/05/april-picture-of-month-poll.html

Politics and AnderEyeCandy

Here is some eye candy to enjoy whether you are watching the election results come in or have had politics up to here. Either way I hope you like them.

TITLE: "WHAT'S UP WITH THE GRAPHICS? I titled these caps because I've been yelling it at my television screen for a couple weeks now. Every night when they do the 360 Bulletin, they block out Anderson and Erica's faces with the 360 Bulletin graphic. We know it's the 360 Bulletin, Anderson just got done telling us. He's still speaking and they plaster the graphic over his face. It's very rude. Then when they supersized the graphics for the webby award, I couldn't resist.

More eye-candy for you Anderfans! I stole this pic from the Myspace page of one of my best Anderfriends.

Yup, it is, indeed, " silly season. Do you feel it? I sure do!

Ugh. It looks like more politics on board for tonight's 360. Gosh, is it June already?
