Lethal RocketsI

Merry Christmas to all of you who are Greek Orthodox and observing Christmas today. My mom and I celebrate today in addition to the Dec. 25. I gave her the gifts I didn't have time to wrap for our family Christmas. Although I'm not sure whether or not she liked them. She said she was afraid to look in the box. I'm not quite sure what that meant. Sure the box was big, but I still don't understand what she meant. Anyway, it was a nice day to stay indoors and wait for the snowstorm. Although, I'm not sure 2-4 inches constitutes a storm. The wind is kicking up that's for sure. Now on to the latest Andernews.

I got a shock when I went to the blog page and there was no entry from Anderson. You don't suddenly disappear when people know you're in a war zone; it's very unsettling. Finally I scrolled down until I found his name and came across a video blog. I recognized it from the program so I don't know what that means for tonight's broadcast. He did say he'd see us tomorrow so I guess he will be reporting live from Israel tonight. Since I don't fly much myself, I couldn't figure out whether he would've had enough time to fly back home and do the show from New York. Even if the Israeli government won't let them into Gaza, I'm surprised the local reporters haven't contacted him and given him contacts or interviews that he could use. If I were there I would sure have at least tried that tactic. One thing is for sure, his blogs are generating a flood of responses. Yesterday's blog had 201 responses while another had 365. For a look at his blog from this morning, click on the link. http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2009/01/07/lethal-rockets/

One of the comments on the blog today mentioned that Anderson was on his way home. I couldn't find any official mention of this to back it up so I decided to just dismiss it. As much as I would rather have Anderson come home and be safe, I think it's a good thing for the media to be over there. I think the area needs a good dose of "keeping em honest".

In the program last night, Anderson did a report on the type of rockets Hamas was using. The segment was interesting, although I'm not sure why they cut off the end where Anderson was trying to show us how many weapons the police had collected. I was also curious as to what kind of weapons the Israelis are using.

Well, it's time for a cup of Christmas tea and a warm blanket to snuggle in while I watch AC360. Have a great night everyone!

Anderson back to War Zone

Anderson is back in the war zone. He will broadcasting live tonight from Israel. To read more about it, click on the link to his blog : http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2009/01/05/on-the-ground-near-the-gaza-border/#comment-510689

Anderson's reports from the frontlines are always great; informative, impartial, and interesting. However, I have to say I hate when he goes to war zones. It scares the living daylights out of me. So everyone remember to say your prayers tonight and bring Anderson home safe and sound. I suppose a few prayers for peace wouldn't hurt either. I can't imagine what it must be like for the people living there. Their lives must be literally on hold. How can they sleep with explosions echoing through the air day and night? Even when they stop, they are probably still on edge wondering when it will start again, how close will it hit, and will they live through it? Moreover, what about the children? Can you imagine having kids and wondering how you can keep them safe? They must be scared to death, even more than their parents. As a parent, I would think you'd try to hide your fear so as not to upset your kids even more. It's an unbelievable situation. Unfortunately, it happens way too often in far too many places.

It's Christmas people, what happened to peace on earth and good will towards all men? This area is in the center of Christmas, it's the home of Christmas, it's where Jesus was born. Maybe they need to think of this a little more often.

January 2, 2009

It's going to take some time getting used to typing 2009. It still seems a bit strange. It's such a let down that such a merry and remarkable Christmas could lead to a New Year that is such a disappointment. I hope the rest of the year proves to be much better.

It was nice to see Anderson blogging again. I hope it continues. Although I wasn't surprised to hear him congratulate his competition on her ratings, it was truly nice to hear. That is just one of the many attributes that make us so enamored with him. You just have to say it, that was really sweet of him.

I just saw that Dick Clark's New Year's Eve program was the highest rated of all the NYE broadcasts. I'm sure Anderson would've done better if it hadn't been for Kathy Griffin.

Sorry I don't have any screen caps or puzzles to share with you. I hope you will be patient as I get used to my new computer and back into blogging on a regular basis.

Anderson Blogs From Cameroon

I thought I'd blog in jungle green today in honor of Anderson's trek into the forest with epidemiologist Nathan Wolfe. He didn't include anything personal in today's blog, unfortunately. I don't blame him after all the judgemental comments after his last blog. To read the entire blog and find out what he's up to, click on the link: http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2008/06/12/andersons-view-investigating-disease-deep-in-the-jungle/

I know it's late, but here is the picture of the week. It comes from the slideshow posted on the AC360 blog. Usually I don't care for black & white pictures, but these are extraordinary. Enjoy!

Hillary Clinton

So far today there is no blog from Anderson. Maybe all the critical remarks about his taking Ambien turned him off and he's giving up on blogging. Why spend time blogging if people are just going to judge you and criticize you? Of course, it punishes those of us who like reading about his experiences, thoughts, and what he's up to. It's especially nice to hear that he arrived at his destination safely and that he's okay. I'm glad they are doing a second Planet in Peril. I enjoyed the first one immensely and bought the DVD so I can watch it anytime I want. I'm also curious to know how they know which gorilla is the head of the clan and why his predecessor was replaced. I guess even in the animal world there is no job security and the one on top gets knocked off their pedestal eventually.

Tonight on AC360
Where to now?
Photobucket - Video and Image HostingFor more than a year Chelsea Clinton's been

on the campaign trail stumping for her mom. But now that Hillary's
out of the race, what's next for the former first daughter? ... More politics?
I am confused. Why do people, the media, have this impression that since Hillary Clinton isn't the nominee, her whole family is now floundering and looking for a purpose in life. Chelsea was employed before her mom began her campaign and i'm sure she has gone back to it. It seems logical that she either saved up vacation time or took a leave of absence to join the campaign. As for President Clinton, he has his foundation. This man doesn't need anyone to give him a purpose. Here is a private citizen who holds world summits and world leaders attend and become involved in the various causes the summit addresses. Hhe holds a summit every year and over the years, attendees have included such world leaders and distinguished guests such as, Tony Blair, then Prime Minister of Britain, al Gore, Kofi Annan, His Majesty King Abdullah of Jordon, Mayor Bloomberg, First Lady Laura Bush, among others. Bill Clinton does not need Hillary to be the presidential nominee to be important, respected for his accomplisments, or to be involved. He does perfectly fine all on his own. Cooper Blogs: The McClellan Scandal

AC himself finally graced us with his presence on the blog today.

The topic was mostly regarding last night's breaking news on former White House Press Secretary McClellan's explosive book detailing some alleged " wrongdoings" of this administration. Now I am not gonna choose sides on this blog , I will follow Coop's lead and let the blog and the new information gleaned from tonight's show guide you all.
Check out the blog post on the 360 site.

Coop also states that he has not, and never will, endorse any particular candidate for office. Now I know a lot of folks accuse Coop and CNN of a liberal bias, but frankly when it comes to the Coop himself, I see no on-air bias from him. Now when it comes to bias from the pundits, yeah I admits TONS of pro-Obama bias. Roland Martin is one of the worst offenders . I respect Anderson for many reasons, but one big one is that he does NOT choose sides in anything he covers. This is very hard for a journalist in any media or/and market to do. we all do carry our biases.

Last night's show was good, but what I wanna know is why Billary is still making headlines with its ridiculous alllegations of some sort of ' cover -up". Conspiracy from whom, one might ask, the far left? HAHAHAHAHA!

Anderson Blogs!

Usually I try to post as soon as I see that Anderson has blogged. Unfortunately, today it didn't work out that way. To learn about tonight's AC360, get it straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak. http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2008/02/04/andersons-view-super-bowl-of-politics/#comments

Since I'm not much of a sports fan anymore, I didn't watch the Super Bowl yesterday. True, at one time I watched. Even though I wasn't a sports fan, to me it was a holiday. Along with New Year's Eve, Wimdbledon, the Kentucky Derby, and the Preakness, it was an event and you were supposed to celebrate. In my house, that meant watching the event with chips and dip or similar munchies. At one point, the pro team nearest my home played in the Super Bowl and I got hooked on football. It lasted a number of years, but eventually the embers of fandom burned out when no sooner I learned the names of the players they were already traded to another team. It just isn't the same anymore. There is no loyalty. However, I still watch the Kentucky Derby; if nothing else, I can enjoy the hats!

By now you're probably asking, "why are we listening to all this yammering and what do we get out of it"? So here's your reward, a couple of yummy Anderpictures from Friday's program. I would've included more, but by the time my computer downloaded them it would be next Friday.

Enjoy!

Anderson Blogs from Atlanta

Anderson blogged from Atlanta. He is down there for book signings due to the release of the paperback version of Dispatches from the Edge. One of the reports scheduled for tonight's program is the stoning of a 17 year old Iraqi girl. Her crime - falling in love. This story will break your heart. For more on this and to read the entire blog, follow the link: http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/anderson.cooper.360/blog/

I now need to beg your forgiveness for the lack of posts and pictures the last couple of days. Unfortunately, Bloggers new format of autosaving your posts isn't all it's cracked up to be. When I went back to access my auto saved draft, it wasn't there. I'm sure it was the scream that could be heard in Paris and beyond. My long blog about the great AC 360 on Wednesday, Tony Blair's farewell meeting with Bush, Anderson's interview with President Clinton and pics from Anderson's quiz all gone. Oh well, have to try again. Wish me luck! Caps are from last night's program.

Lil' o' this and lil' o' that!

Anderson blogged once again today, telling us what they're working on for tonight and a few witty comments to bring a smile to our face.
"By the way, we noticed last night's White House dinner in honor of Queen Elizabeth II featured this dish on the menu: Arugula, Savannah Mustard and Mint Romaine with Champagne Dressing and Trio of Farmhouse Cheeses. I don't know about you, but in New York, we call that "salad."
So true,Anderson.
http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/anderson.cooper.360/blog/

Tuesday's show
Should a candidate's stance on evolution matter? Three GOP presidential hopefuls expressed their disbelief in evolution during last week's debate. Where do you stand? Tune in tonight at 10 p.m. ET
.

In addition, Anderson will be reprising his report on Teri Horton and her $5 purchase of a Jackson Pollack painting that's allegedly worth $50 million.

To my delight, Richard Quest will also be part of tonight's program. I read various comments on the blog saying he should be a regular contributor on AC 360; I wholeheartedly agree. He is an interesting and entertaining character and always has a wealth of interesting tidbits to share with us. I especially like his quiz last night on etiquette with the Queen. Maybe it's my interest in all things royal but I am always interested in what he has to say. Next to Anderson I like him best; maybe it's the English accent?

Now, this week the screen caps will be a little late as my capper is off for a few nights. So the caps will be from Friday night's 360 and the Larry King: 50 years of Pop Culture special. I really enjoyed the Larry King anniversary special, I must've watched it at least four times by now, if not more. From Anderson's capable narration and interviewing Larry to the walk down memory lane, every minute was compelling and at times very emotional. It must have been a great thrill to sit there and listen to Larry talk about all the people he has interviewed and all the events he has had a front row seat to. I wouldn' be surprised if they had tons of footage that was never aired. Maybe they should put it on DVD.

Speaking of videos, allow me a moment to rant. I was terribly disapponted to hear that Anderson's paperback "Dispatches from the Edge" paperback and DVD is only available at Hudson Booksellers. Peronally, I never heard of Hudsons, but after some investigating I found they are only located in airports. That's not fair to overlook all those Anderfans that don't have access to large airports with shops and bookstores. I thought I was the first to suggest Anderson's Reporter's Notebooks being put on DVD, and now that the DVD is made, I can't get it. *sad smiley*

Okay, now on to happier things. Take a look!

Cute, funny, and deliciously yummy!

Anderson blogged today about the Shot on Friday, where he happen to mention that the puppy would like his friend, the duck, even more when she was slaughtered for food. If you are horrified, fear not, Erica voiced your shock. Anderson sweetly apologized to the duck on the blog. How can you not love a man who is a star and humbles himself to cater to our sensibilities?

He also mentioned the state dinner for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth of Britain, who has been in America since last week and attended the Kentucky Derby on Saturday. To read more about the Queen and the entire blog, follow the link: http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/anderson.cooper.360/blog/

One of my favorite parts of the run for the roses is the parade of hats. There are so many pretty ones, I can't pick a favorite. Although, I do prefer the more elegant and classy ones rather than those with horses on them. To see more, follow this link: http://www.kentuckyderby.com/2007/experience/index.html

Anderson Blogs

Anderson is back in New York tonight after taking the red eye from LA: per his blog post this afternoon. We also learned there will be no Anderson in the Arctic. Jeff Corwin's report from there will be part of tonight's program. As disappointing as that is, we will at least see some polar bears.

Follow this link to read Anderson's blog: http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/anderson.cooper.360/blog/

Wednesday's show
The popularity of the TV show "CSI" has now influenced the way some juries think. Anderson Cooper investigates why the "CSI effect" may be a dangerous thing. Tune in tonight at 10 p.m. ET.

Anderson Blogs

Tuesday's show

Rappers preaching a deadly message: Stop snitching and never help police. Could they actually be making money off the deaths of our kids? Tune in tonight at 10 p.m. ET.

Anderson blogged again today. He talks about the black community's code of silence when it comes to talking to the police. The "stop snitching" code is actually being marketed and it's been heard loud and clear by the young people as you will hear tonight. Anderson interviewed a group of these young people and it's stunnng to hear how they have picked up on this message. Here's the link to the blog, take a look:

ACs Blog about Katrina

Since I haven't been able to sit down and actually write up a Katrina post like I was planning, I thought I'd post ACs blog post from yesterday. Feel free to share your thoughts about the entry. I will try to get something together in between class, but that'll be a stretch. Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!

Remembering the city that never forgets
NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana -- One year later.

In some ways, it's hard to believe. Parts of the city are cleaned-up, scrubbed fresh. You stare at the Convention Center and the Superdome and there's no sign of what happened there, no marker, no memorial.

I flew in yesterday, and while waiting for my luggage in the airport, I thought back to the elderly and sick people who one year ago were placed on the baggage conveyer belt. There was nowhere else for them to go.

It's strange. I'm staying in the exact same room of the same hotel I stayed in a few weeks after Katrina and it seems normal. But drive through the Lower Ninth Ward, of course, or Saint Bernard Parish and Katrina is not just a memory. People's possessions still lay out in the sun. There is still no clear plan for what will be rebuilt, or when, or how.

Did you know that in New Orleans they never take the names off buildings, even if the name of the building has changed?

My father's high school was called Francis T. Nicholls, named after a racist governor of Louisiana. The name of the school was changed years ago. It's now the Frederick Douglas Academy, but Nicholls' name is still carved in stone on the school facade.

This is a city of memory, a city which never tries to erase its own past. I think there is something important in that. We must never forget what happened here. We must never allow others to simply rewrite the history of this storm. We must remember by honoring the dead and telling the stories of the living.

As we look back tonight on "360" at what happened one year ago in Mississippi and Louisiana, I'd be interested in hearing from you.

What memories do you have of Katrina? Whether you lived through it yourself or just watched the horror unfold on TV, was there a moment, a picture, a story that stays with you? Let us know. Help us remember.

Anderson has blogged

Tuesday's Show:
Is Syria key to ending the Mideast conflict? And how does the U.S. government get them involved? Anderson is live from Israel. Tune in Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET.

Anderson has also blogged today!

This is not another Katrina
A lot of times I wake up and have no idea where I am. The blinds are drawn, the room is nondescript. It happened again just a few minutes ago. I lay there, looking at the ceiling, trying to remember. A few seconds passed, then the sirens sounded. Haifa. If there are sirens, I must be in Haifa.
To read the rest of his blog click HERE

Not much to really say at the moment, I'm on my way out to lunch with my mom so I'll probably blog a little later today. Have a terrific Tuesday!!

Anderson posted a new entry on the 360 Blog!

Where should "360°" go next?

So we are back on the road. Tonight and tomorrow night, we will broadcast from Los Angeles. Then we'll take the show to San Francisco and Seattle for broadcasts on Thursday and Friday.

There's a lot of news to cover tonight -- President Bush visiting Iraq, Karl Rove breathing a bit easier, Tropical Storm Alberto moving through Florida. We also have a number of interesting stories out of California, including the debate over a national park that one Republican Congressman wants to use as a hunting ground for disabled vets.

We are planning some other trips for "360°" this summer and have been discussing a handful of possible destinations. I'd be interested in hearing any suggestions from you about places you think we should go. Any ideas?

On another note, I really appreciate all the e-mails and letters I've received from those of you who've read my book. I've done a number of book signings across the country in recent days and the response has been really amazing. Last week, the book went to number one on The New York Times bestseller list, which was remarkable, and I just wanted to say thank you.

There are some very interesting comments that have been posted, and well since I'm not in a serious mood right now, I decided to send in a comment, we'll just have to wait and see if it get's posted lol. I'm interested in knowing where YOU would like Anderson and the 360 crew to travel; here is what I posted (again in my not so serious mood) Do you like cows?! You could always come to Plainview, TX and check out our great fiberglass cows, boy I tell ya when I returned home from Russia I was never THAT happy to see those cows!

So yeah, that should really show my non serious mood today lol. Life's too short to be taken seriously day after day, so to all of you out there not in a serious mood(and to all of those that are in a serious mood) hope you all have a great day!

The latest 360 Blog by Anderson

It was an experience I will never forget. Some of you have seen pictures of these parades, but they don't really capture the emotion of the moment. Tens of thousands of people line the parade route. Many haven't seen each other since Hurricane Katrina. They are young and old, black and white, a sea of smiles.

I found it impossible not to keep smiling myself, and after a few hours my face literally hurt from smiling.

Awww he's just too cute!!!

Today's AC 360 Blog

Friday, February 10, 2006
I don't mean to get preachy, but...
I'm heading to New Orleans today. We will broadcast from there Friday night.

As you know, I am personally very committed to making sure that what has happened and continues to happen in Louisiana and Mississippi does not get forgotten. In this day and age, with so much information and such short attention spans, it's easy to just move on to other subjects, other stories. Anyway, I'm not going to get all preachy about it, but I think we owe it to those who perished in the Gulf and those who survived to keep the focus on recovery, rebuilding and rememberence. Unless we study the mistakes, unless we hold public officials accountable for their words and actions, we will repeat the same mistakes.

Few politicians have acknowledged specific mistakes. Many have blamed others or issued vague, general mea culpas, but that's always easier, isn't it? OK, so I'm getting preachy. I'll stop. See you in New Orleans.

Posted By Anderson Cooper: 10:38 AM

Haha, it's okay to be preachy! I mean sheesh someone needs to step up and do something, and if takes getting "preachy" more power to Anderson!
