Cooper Blogs: The McClellan Scandal

AC himself finally graced us with his presence on the blog today.

The topic was mostly regarding last night's breaking news on former White House Press Secretary McClellan's explosive book detailing some alleged " wrongdoings" of this administration. Now I am not gonna choose sides on this blog , I will follow Coop's lead and let the blog and the new information gleaned from tonight's show guide you all.
Check out the blog post on the 360 site.

Coop also states that he has not, and never will, endorse any particular candidate for office. Now I know a lot of folks accuse Coop and CNN of a liberal bias, but frankly when it comes to the Coop himself, I see no on-air bias from him. Now when it comes to bias from the pundits, yeah I admits TONS of pro-Obama bias. Roland Martin is one of the worst offenders . I respect Anderson for many reasons, but one big one is that he does NOT choose sides in anything he covers. This is very hard for a journalist in any media or/and market to do. we all do carry our biases.

Last night's show was good, but what I wanna know is why Billary is still making headlines with its ridiculous alllegations of some sort of ' cover -up". Conspiracy from whom, one might ask, the far left? HAHAHAHAHA!

fun with an Anderphoto!

Here is an Ander-image from last night's show. I used Imagechef to add the graphics. Go to http://www.imagechef.com/. I added the graphics and the text to the image.

So , why is the famous Mr Cooper still wearing the silver ties? Note that again he wore a tie that matches his hair.
Last night's 360 was pretty good, in spite of the lead story being one of more Billary Clinton antics. " Is there a "conspiracy theory" against the fair Clintons? Hmm, I will risk showing my age to say that this is a familiar Clinton refrain. It seems to me that when the stuff is hitting the floor for Billary, they cry " CONSPIRACY THEORY!"Sorry, Billary, I don't buy that drivel.
It seems that the Republican nominee-in-waiting has a pastor problem all his own. However, I do not think that McCain's ties to Hagee are nowhere near as damaging as Barack Obama's ties to J. Wright. Obama still has the pastoral albatross hanging around his head. McCain's association with Hagee is one of a political notion. McCain pointed out that he was and is NOT a member of the church where Hagee preaches.
My thoughts and prayers are for those who were affected by the horrible storms in the Midwest. Wow.

Memorial Day

I thought you might be interested in this article on CNN's political coverage. There are some comments by Anderson included.
http://www.thestar.com.my/columnists/story.asp?file=/2008/5/24/columnists/stateside/21337015&sec=stateside

I will post the picture of the week as soon as I can. My friend hasn't been able to make screen caps due to technical difficulties.

I hope everyone has had a nice Memorial Day weekend.

lunchtime treat & review

Here is something YUMMY for all Cooper fans. I pulled it from another Cooper fan group to which I belong. I have tried, but I can NEVER Get good screencaps of anything. The best screencap I've taken of Cooper happened to be with my phone's camera.

What is it with him and his silver tie(s) lately? Not that I am complaining, but his ties seem to be following a monochromatic theme lately. Haha.
The screencap was from his stint on yesterday's " The View" Since I do not watch hat show, I missed his segment. I'd never watch that show anyway, as Barbara Walters and Joy Behar annoy me. Joy Behar's voice reminds me of chalk( yes I am that old, m'kay) on a blackboard. " "The View" is horribly skewed to the left, even with Elisabeth Hassleback's presence on the show.
The rare look into the FLDS school was interesting. Is it just me or is every FLDS member go by the last name Jessop? And the fact that they are so loyal to that wacko Warren Jeffs, their so-called " prophet" is scary. I feel sorry for those people, as they are truly brainwashed.
Moving along to another topic: the live blog. It annoys the crap out of me. Some of the posters stay on topic and post intelligent comments relating to the stories on 360 but others just post stupid, meaningless drivel which I am surprised the moderators let by. Ugh. If you wanna know of which I speak, go to cnn.com/360 and check out last night's " Live Blog from the Anchor Desk". It seems to me that most of the " regulars" have nothing relevent to say at all.
Topic number three: not ALL politics. FINALLY! Last night's show was pretty well-blanced. Of course they led off with political stuff but then we got a nice balance of other material.
I miss the " What were they Thinking" segments. Whatever happened to those, they were some of the best moments on the show.

Sad Diagnosis for Sen. Ted Kennedy

There was sad news on Sen. Ted Kennedy's condition today. He has been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. On Saturday, he suffered a seizure and was hospitalized. No decisions have been made on the course of treatment which would include radiation and/or chemotherapy.

Jack Gray, AC360 Associate Prod. blogged about the only surviving son of Jack and Rose Kennedy. It is a touching account of what the senator and his family mean to many Americans. They are truly our royal family. you can find the blog entry here: http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2008/05/20/memories-from-kennedy-country/

Our thoughts and prayers are with the senator and his family in this trying time. This family has suffered so much tragedy throughout the years, I don't know how they've survived all the heartache. Yet, they have not only survived it, they've accomplished great things along the way. They've never forgotten their fellow citizens, but have always worked to help those in need.

Please include Sen Ted Kennedy and his family in your prayers in the coming days and weeks. It's now our turn to support this family.

Picture of the Week 05/18/2008

Time again for the Ander-picture of the Week. I don't where this picture came from but it is really cool. It just shows that no matter where on earth, what ethnic group, or what the style of clothing; he's still sexy and breathtakingly handsome. I believe the french word is "seduisant"! He is definitely that. Enjoy!

if this picture is yours, let me know so I can credit you.

By the way, don't forget to vote in the April Picture of the Month Poll. I'll leave it for a few more days before I post the results. http://andernation.blogspot.com/2008/05/april-picture-of-month-poll.html

Friday's night's show

Friday's show was excellent. It was not total politics and it also showed updates from that horrible earthquake in China. I feel so sorry for those poor people.
The sparring between John McCain and Obama was interesting, much more so than the usual Democratic blubbering( sorry) we've seen on the news lately. Now maybe the candidates can focus on ISSUES rather than petty personalities?

The update on Warren Jeffs and the FDLS sect was also insightful. Is it just me or is Jeffs uber-creepy?

I also loved how John King was part of " The Shot"I guess no one is safe when Erica and Anderson co-conspire! hahaha. It was wonderful.

Today is my birthday and I just HAD to share a great birthday card from my Myspace pal, Cathrin. Danke! I love it and hope you all do as well.

My apologies....

Hey everyone, first off, my apologies for neglecting the blog; to Chris and Mac a huge thank you for keeping it up and running! I've just been so busy with "school" (I'm working as a substitute teacher, for the remaining school days) as well as a few days at my other job, and then these past few weeks have been busy with doctor visists and staying anxious about my results (nothing too major, finally decided to go back to my orthopedic surgeon), and to top it all of it's the playoffs. My Spurs are facing the New Orleans Hornets in the western conference semi-finals and it's do or die for both teams-winner takes all in a highly anticipated game 7 down in NOLA...the pressure is on and hopefully my spurs can pull the win on the road (something no western conference team has done throughout the semis)

Anywho, I plan to make some wallpapers to make up for my absence, so keep checking back :)

A Great 360

I'm looking forward to AC360 even more than usual. Apparently, there is a big brouhaha over some comments made by Pres. Bush in Israel against Barach Obama. I didn't leave it on long enough to find out what was going on. I'll wait until Anderson covers it.

So, did you all like last night's AC360 as much as I did? Being a Hillary supporter, I obviously enjoyed the segment airing her interview with Wolf Blitzer. The part where Wolf asked her about Chelsea was especially moving. She clearly loves her daughter deeply and vice versa. I totally forgot how long Wolf Blitzer has known the Clintons. I believe he was White House correspondent during the Clinton administration. He has literally watched her grow up. Perhaps that is why he got the interview as opposed to Anderson or anyone else at CNN.

The images from China's earthquake were very disturbing. In particular, the one with the little girl who had just been rescued. You could see in the photo that she was crying and reading her lips, she was calling out for her 'mama". It broke my heart! What made it even more emotional is the fact that after thinking about it, you realize her mama may be gone. Her whole family could have been killed in the quake. How many more will die in the aftermath? Elderly men and women who need to take medication on a daily basis will succumb to their heart conditions or diabetes. Lack of clean water will also contribute to the worsening situation. They need our prayers and the aid organizations need our money. For a list of organizations, follow the link: http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2007/impact/china.myanmar.html

Finally, the scorn Anderson felt for the guy who was selling the Obama 08 T-shirts was palpable. The look on his face told it all. I'm not posting his name because honestly, I just don't remember it.

A few yummy screen caps from days gone by. May 1 to be exact. I couldn't decide which I liked better, so I posted both. Have a great evening.

that silver tie( again)

CNN's " silver fox" seems to favor silver ties as well. Not that I mind, but what is with the monochrome look lately, Cooper? :)
I almost watched all of the political coverage last night, I made it until halfway through the second live hour until I had to go to sleep.

Talk About Things

Although many of us are tired of all the talk about politics, I was kind of into it tonight. Did you catch Anderson's comment, "that's what we do on cable television, we talk about things!" I loved it! I also liked the mix of contributors tonight, neither side was overly weighted for one candidate or the other. I didn't mind Lanny Davis, but I noticed many others did. Paul Begala is good. He is a Clinton supporter, but doesn't seem to annoy people. Maybe it's the way he injects humor into his commentary that helps.

One thing I don't understand on the election, why does John King keep splitting the West Virginia vote 65/35? Obama doesn't have 35, he only has 29! I'm so confused.

Now for those of you who are ready for a new challenge, here's a new puzzle. http://www.jigzone.com/puzzles/83139D0E588?m=D025092D44.71181A2&z=6

Wolf B is no AC

Sorry, but Wolf B annoys me. And when he was subbing for the Coop on Friday I did not even bother to try to watch it. Ugh. The man rambles, and is not easy on the eyes at all. Yuck yuck yuck.

Also, I just want to go on the record( journalism shop talk) as saying that Cooper attracts viewers accross the political spectrum. Just beacuse one is a admirer of Coop's work does NOT mean that one sunscribes to a certain political idealogy

Picture of the Week 5/11/2008

Sorry for the delay, but it was worth waiting for. I'm sure many of you have seen this one before. It is from Anderson's layout in Vanity Fair. If I remember correctly, it was taken by Annie Lebovitz. She is an amazing photographer, even when the subject isn't as amazing as Anderson. I don't think it's possible for Anderson to take a bad picture. If one exists, I haven't seen it!.

A bit off topic, if anyone knows the music played during the Valspar paint commercial, could you let me know. It sounds very familiar to me, but I can't think of where I heard it before. I know, it's a strange request.

Now for the picture of the week.

Mother's Day Sunday

A down-in-the-dumps Friday was bad enough, but then it got worse; no Anderson on AC360. I wonder if he's on his way to Burma, spring allergies got the best of him, or he's spending the weekend celebrating Mother's day with his mom. Maybe I should try and look on the bright side, at least now I can get some extra work done around the house. If I don't get my gardening done now when the weather is nice and cool, I'll never get it done once it's humid and unbearably hot. Frankly though, I'd rather watch Anderson.

For all of you out there lucky enough to be moms, I hope you are having a very Happy Mother's Day. Enjoy your babies, whether they be young or old, small or full grown. To a mom, her children will always be their babies; whether we like it or not!

I hope Anderson and his mom, Gloria Vanderbilt are having a nice day together. We thank her for sharing her son with us. He has brought a great deal into our lives and brightens our days considerably. We thank her for having two great sons and for sharing one of them with us.

All of us, moms or not, can use a little eye candy; so here's a puzzle. I will have to postpone the picture of the week since Photobucket is not letting me in. They recommended we change our password and now I can't access my account. I will post it as soon as possible.

Happy Mother's Day

yummy Anderpic

I know I am not on this blog a whole heck of a lot, and for that I apologize.

The situation in Burma continues to go further down, apparently the food aid sent to that country has been seized by the military junta.

On a lighter note: here is a yummy Anderpic for all to enjoy!

Haha what is he doing, directing a choir?

so will he or won't he go to Burma?

So, will he or won't he get to go to Burma? ( or Myanmar, as the country is now called)

Knowing how much the Coopster loves to be in the thick of all the action, I am betting that he will go. I am not surprised that he is having trouble securing a visa, as the government over there is not exactly friendly to the West. But last night the report via satellite from their feild reporter there was excellent.

I was REALLY glad that they were able to establish contact over there and 369 breaked from politics-as usual! THis story of the crazy storm which killed over 100,00 people is IMHO more important than more of the same in the game of US politics.

Anderson Blogs: Disaster in Burma

Anderson blogged this afternoon about the cyclone in Burma, now known as Myanmar. Apparently he is still waiting for his visa so he can get in to report on the disaster, as are the numerous aid agencies. I have the strange feeling the government isn't going to let anyone in. This storm has played right into their hands. It has killed two birds with one stone, so to speak. The reporters who want to let the world now how the government in treating its citizens can't get in and many of the anti-government protesters may have been killed. Those whose lives were spared will be too busy trying to survive and won't have the time or inclination to protest. To read Anderson's blog, just follow the link: http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2008/05/07/what-exactly-is-happening-in-burma/
There are also a couple of other blogs on Burma as well. You can access those from the main page of the blog or from the link below: http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/category/cyclone/

Politics and AnderEyeCandy

Here is some eye candy to enjoy whether you are watching the election results come in or have had politics up to here. Either way I hope you like them.

TITLE: "WHAT'S UP WITH THE GRAPHICS? I titled these caps because I've been yelling it at my television screen for a couple weeks now. Every night when they do the 360 Bulletin, they block out Anderson and Erica's faces with the 360 Bulletin graphic. We know it's the 360 Bulletin, Anderson just got done telling us. He's still speaking and they plaster the graphic over his face. It's very rude. Then when they supersized the graphics for the webby award, I couldn't resist.

Yup, it is, indeed, " silly season. Do you feel it? I sure do!

Ugh. It looks like more politics on board for tonight's 360. Gosh, is it June already?

From Triumph to Tragedy

Today was the 134th run for the roses - the Kentucky Derby. The derby is one of those sporting events that you have to watch even if you aren't a sports fan. It's a holiday. Oddly though, the most enjoyable part for me come before the actual race. I like the background they give on the horses; horses are beautiful creatures. There's nothing better than watching them frolic in the corral, running and galloping, or standing next to their mothers. As with most animals, the babies are the best. I love seeing the young horses with their skinny wobbly legs learning to gallop alongside their mothers. Then there are the hats! Every style, color, and fabric is a part of the parade. That's one of those things that goes on the "some day I'm going to do that" list. Oh, and we mustn't forget the mint juleps (yum!) and the singing of "My Old Kentucky Home." The song is my least favorite part of the Derby Day repertoire, it's kind of sad.

For those of you who didn't watch, a horse called Big Brown won the race. Honestly, he looked more like a work horse than a thoroughbred. He was favored to win, but was only the 52nd horse out of a 134 to actually win after being favored. That's the first lesson of betting, don't bet on the favorite. Second rule, the rules don't always work!

Now that I've told you about the triumph, it's time for the tragedy. Eight Belles, the only filly in the race was put down immediately following the race. She came in second. No, they didn't put her down because she came in second. She broke both front ankles at the end of the race and was euthanized right there at the track.

It appears they didn't post the parade of hats this year. If I find it later, I will post some of the pictures or at least the link.

Happy Sunday!

All Together Now, Sorry!!

Happy Friday all. Well, at least it started out that way. I was in a good mood after last night's AC360. Anderson's ay-yi-yi! was good for a giggle and a few smiles. Beat 360 was good, although I do miss his sound effects after reading the staff's caption. There is a grinch at CNN who insists on depleting the show of all the fun stuff! Who says a newscast has to be all serious? Sometimes the lighthearted stuff makes the sad and horrific stuff a little easier to swallow. You know, a spoonful of sugar and all that!

Well, a spoonful of sugar wouldn't be enough today. Try a whole truckload to make Carolyn Jessop's blog entry this afternoon easier to swallow. Anderson was shocked at that a pregnant woman would drink and use drugs. Maybe you can overlook that a little, being that maybe the baby doesn't feel real to her yet. I know that's reaching, but in Carolyn's story the baby is very real and it's heartbreaking to realize that someone could be that cruel to a baby. If you've got a strong stomach and want to read the whole entry, just follow the link: http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2008/05/02/children-of-polygamy-broken-bones-broken-spirits/
Beware warned; it is very, very disturbing to read. It's even worse than watching the babies being dropped onto the sheet!

It's amazing when you see the extremes of human behavior. I think Anderson said once that great adversity brings out the best in some people and the worst in others. Carolyn Jessop is an example of what is best; strength, courage, and love. I don't know how she was able to survive the conditions she was raised under or where she found the will and courage to escape. I suppose much of it comes with motherhood; there is no sacrifice too great or task too difficult when it comes to protecting your children. I hope someday I can find the same strength and love within myself to be a good mother to babies of my own.

Finally, I hope everyone who bad mouthed Anderson for being off, not doing the stories they wanted from NOLA, and everything else they were critical of, have apologized to him. He said last night at the beginning of the live blog that he was ill the day before. We all hope he is feeling better and will stay happy and healthy. Oh yeah, to the CNN make up people, stop putting that toxic stage make-up on his face! Yes, we watched Planet in Peril and we paid attention. We'll be looking for confirmation on Monday!

For a preview of tonight's AC360, check here: http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/anderson.cooper.360/

Pick on Anderson Day?

Was yesterday “pick on Anderson day” or something? Every fan blog I’ve looked at as been critical. What’s up with that? I personally don’t get it; he spoke at Tulane University Tuesday night, and instead of taking the night off, he did the show from New Orleans. He gave the extra effort, but he certainly didn’t get any gratitude. Anyone else would have just made their appearance and spent the rest of the evening having a good time. Not Anderson. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like too many of us appreciated it.

I haven’t heard anything about his speech. Usually someone tells about their experience on one of the blogs. Anderson, however, is probably thrilled. It must be disconcerting every time you meet someone or make an appearance to see it spelled out in detail on the internet. We mean no harm. It’s just that it’s such a thrill to meet him; and when you are that happy, you want to share it. For those of us who haven’t had the pleasure of meeting him, it is nice for us that people are willing to share. It makes us feel like we were there. I sure wish I could’ve been there.

Now let’s get to the good stuff. Thanks to Sahira we have a ton of yummy Anderson pics. For those of you who said you needed a pretty picture to cheer you up, here ya go. Enjoy!
