Whoohooo!! My Spurs won game 2 of the series 102-96!! Tony Parker scored 32 points to help the Spurs with their comeback. The Spurs bench also stepped up in the 2nd half!!! Whoohooo! I'm sooo excited! Now we go to Phoenix for games 3 and 4. LET'S GO SPURS!!!!

Well folks, the 2008 NBA Playoffs kicked off today, and the San Antonio Spurs came out with a game 1 victory against the Phoenix Suns.
The Suns lead the game for the 1st 3 quarters, leading by as many as 16 points even though Shaq got into early foul trouble. With 1 quarter left in regulation the Suns only lead by 6. The Spurs took their first lead of the game late in the 4th, but with a little over a minute left were down by 3. With 15 seconds left on the clock Micheal Finley came up with a huge clutch 3 pointer to tie the game at 93, sending the game to OT.
Tim Duncan (2 time MVP) played with so much emotion and heart during the 1st ot. The Spurs found themselves down 104-101, where Duncan was left all alone at the 3-point line, and drained his first 3 of the season sending the game to it's 2nd overtime!
With 15 seconds left in double ot, nash fired a 3 to tie the game at 115. Manu Ginobili scored with game winning layup with 1.8 seconds left on the clock.
Tony Parker had 26 points for the Spurs, Ginobili had 24, and Duncan lead the way with 40 points.

I can't refrain from shouting it at the top of my lungs...... THE DALLAS MAVERICKS HAVE BEEN ELIMINATED FROM THE PLAYOFFS IN THE FIRST ROUND BY THE 8TH SEEDED GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS!!!!!
It was amazing to watch Dallas struggle after being the number one team in the NBA, and since many people saying they would win it all this year....but that has been proven wrong!!!
My SPURS have advanced to the 2nd round after defeating the Denver Nuggets 4-1 and will now face the Pheonix Suns! It's going to be an amazing series....

Man anyone else glad elections are over?! I know I am, I don't know how many times "mature" (well they're supposed to be) people have started "debates" with me over the last couple of days. I put debate in quotation marks because it was more like an argument/lecture time thing and I was trying to deal with it but I just wasn't up for it!
Anywho, I get to miss 360 and probably the repeat since I'm the "lucky" one that gets to sit up at work while the cleaning people clean the store (agh!) Luckily I don't have practice in the AM so I can sleep in! I'm definately recording the SPURS/Suns game tonight! It should be a great matchup! AND I'll be hoping that Dallas loses tonight too hehehe *sheesh I'm so evilish sometimes muahahahah*

Well my Spurs didn't let me down last night! They started their season with a 97-91 win on the road over the Mavs!! After trailing most of the game, they took the lead early in the fourth quarter and outscored the Mavs 25-16 in the stretch to secure the win!
Some nice stats to look at:
Bruce Bowen drained a tough 3-pointer. Despite his ankle sprain, Tony Parker scored 19 points, and Ginobili added 16 more! Newbie Francisco Elson added 10 points, 6 rebounds and a couple of block shots coming off the bench! Looks like we found a GREAT center!!
Although last season came to an early finish, Ginobili has the right mindset for this season.
"We all believe we had a great opportunity last year," Manu Ginobili said. "But it's gone. We can't do anything about it. We just have to try to forget and learn from our mistakes.
"Probably the only thing that's going to make us fo
rget is to have a great season."
I believe Tim Duncan summed it up the best when he said:
"It's one win," Duncan said, "but it's a great start to the season."
Many of you have heard me say time and time again how I have no respect for the Mavs anymore. In the past I always rooted for a Texas team, but last season that changed. Many people don't see my point, but here is a good example. First game of the season and we already have a flagrant foul.
Bruce Bowen is known for his defense, that is his role: to harrass whoever he is guarding and make the shots he needs to make! During the game he was guarding Josh Howard. Early in the 2nd quarter Howard shoved Bowen to the ground. Why? I remember watching the interview he gave and he gave some excuse as to how he had to protect himself. First of all basketball isn't a nice sport, but if you can't control your temper when your getting owned by a defender you shouldn't be there. BUT THAT IS JUST MY HUMBLE OPINION!
Here is Bowen's take on the matter:
"I know I made a cut and he fell," Bowen said. "As I'm trying to step over him, he's grabbing me. Look at the film.
"I'm sick of all the stuff that takes place with me and Dallas. It always looks like it's something. And who gets the great label for that? Me."
And to be fair this is Howard's take on the issue as well:
"A situation happened where I got to protect myself,'' Howard said (That is all I could find)

I have my season opener against our rivals LCU, and I have to go to work right after I'm finished with that (well I will shower of course lol) BUT my Spurs also have their season opener against their rivals the Dallas Mavericks.

Since we're on the subject of withdrawal, let's talk about my House withdrawal! It's been a month since I've gotten to see House! I thought to myself, well through the month of October I can just rewatch seasons 1 and 2, but then I remember I let a friend borrow them so she could get caught up. I mean it was the least I could do after getting her hooked on the show! BUT I only have ONE more day and House is BACK! Yay!! So to any House fans out there that suffered along with me, don't forget House has a new time on Tuesday 8 pm for us central timers, and 9 pm for any eastern peeps!!
Also, I'm so excited that basketball season is starting up again! I've missed my boys like CRAZY!! The Spurs will take on the Mavs in Dallas as their season opener on the 2nd! The Spurs ended their preseason against the Mavs with a 100-79 win! Watch out people the Spurs are back looking for revenge and getting that Championship Trophy back in San Antone!
Or just a basketball fan in general....
Spurs draft pick Javtokas likely to leave old team

The Lithuanian team for which 2001 Spurs second-round draft pick Robertas Javtokas has played for the past five seasons is so convinced Javtokas will be in the Spurs’ training camp this fall it has signed a player to replace him.
A report on Eurobasket.com indicated that recent player signings by the Lithuanian professional league team Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius, for which Javtokas, a 6-foot-11, 240-pound center, has played since 2001, were motivated in part by the belief Javtokas will not return to the club so he can pursue a spot on the Spurs roster. The report cited Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius general manager J. Vainauskas saying his club “doesn’t have much hope on keeping R. Javtokas . . .“
Because Javtokas’ contract with his Lithuanian team has expired, the Spurs would not have to pay a buy-out fee to Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius before signing him.
Javtokas, a member of the Lithuanian national team since 2000, suffered serious injuries in a motorcycle accident on May 1, 2002, and did not play basketball for more than a year. Since returning to the court, he has been a consistent physical force for Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius and the Lithuanian national team. Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius won the 2005 Lithuanian League title and moved up to Euroleague competition in 2006.
With center Nazr Mohammed an unrestricted free agent this summer, the Spurs must make some decisions about the big men they will bring to training camp in October. French teen-ager Ian Mahinmi, the 6-foot-10 center-forward they selected with the 28th pick in the first round of the 2005 draft, is expected to join their summer league team in Utah in July.
I really hope Javtokas joins the Spurs next season! He can run the floor, shoot the 3, and is force down low in the paint!!

BUT, I can't help but think about certain aspects of the Spurs-mavs series.
This was brought up in a forum that I'm involved with, and it really makes you think:

We've also seen an owner stoop to new lows by encouraging fans to boo a former Mavs player who represented his team and organization with nothing but class during his eight-year tenure, was susbsequently released by that team, and now somehow is a villain. It was also apparently Michael Finley's fault that Jason Terry's uppercut found Finley's private parts. Can you imagine Peter Holt urging Spurs fans to boo Avery Johnson?
Can we say unsportsman like conduct to the extreme?! OMG!! Finley is a great player, and I'm pretty sure a lot of sweat from working hard was dropped on that court, and it probably paid off even though the Mavs never did advance to win a title. Hard work, and dedication does not warrant boo's from the fans in my opinion. It just goes to show that the classless owner, has brought the Mavs fans to an all time low! Yes, I know other organizations have done the same thing, BUT this is the first time it has been brought to the light, and it wouldn't have happened if the owner and some dignity and respect for the opposing teams.
Maybe, I'm just totally off on this seeing as how I play for an organization whose core principles are: Respect, Integrity, Responsibility, Servant Leadership, and Sportmanship
I dont know, I mean I know some pretty awesome Mav fans, and I actually had a new respect for the Mavs, but after everything that the owner has done, that respect is gone. I dont even care that the Mavs are from Texas, and I always said that if my Spurs were to lose, that I would cheer on the Texas team.
For Finleys sake, I hope Phx takes the series, and send that ignorant Cuban back to Dallas. Just wait until next season buddy, my Spurs and Finley will be back with a vengence!
Well, my Spurs lost game 7 in OT. I could go on and on about how the refs didn't call crucial calls BUT I'm not going to become one of those fans. I'm very proud of my Spurs coming back after being down by 20 points, to giving the Mavs a run for their money! So to all my Spurs out in San Antone, thanks for a GREAT season, and we're still the better team and you still have the best fans in the world!
To all you bandwagon fans out there that decided to leave early and give up on the Spurs, go root for Dallas or Detroit who ever happens to be winning at the time! I still love my SPURS!!!

Now that's what I'm talking about baby!!! My Spurs defeated the Mavs 91-86 forcing a game 7 back in San Antone!! Ginobili had 30 points, 10 rebounds and 3 steals. Duncan also had a huge game with 24 (I believe) points, Finley hit some major 3s and played with tons of passion against his former team. Although Parker struggled throughout most of the game, he made some key plays, as well as hitting 2 crucial freethrows with 5 seconds left in the game.

Ok, so this isn't directed to the Mavs fans, but more to their owner, who in my opinion made some very unnecessary comments that I personally reflect poorly on the entire Mav organization. IMO if you are "in charge" of an organization, you're actions, and words reflect those that you are "in charge" of, therefor you should really watch what you do and what you say concerning certain issues. Am I right or am I totally off on that one?!
This is the comment that I am talking about: "Theres not going to be one fan in there that doesnt believe that we can kick their butt all the way back to that ugly-ass, muddy-watered thing they call a Riverwalk."
Sheesh, I'm not even from San Antone and that made me mad! lol Don't get me wrong even though Cuban's comment reflects very poorly on the entire Mav organization I do realize that there are still some class act people involved-such as Avery Johnson who said he disagreed with the statement.

Whoohoo this is the 100th post!!!! Man the Spurs-mavs series has been tough!!! My Spurs pulled through tonight making it a 2-3 series!!
This series reminds me of the finals last year! remember when everyone counted the Spurs out after losing game 4?! We all learned from last years finals that the Spurs are extremely tough mentally can come through when everyone else counts them out.
BUT! Now the pressure is on Dal imo. Charles said it best: "If Dallas comes in here and loses like this, then goes home and loses, mentally they will be fried and will not win game 7."

EDIT: How could I not include Anderson in the 100th post?!?! What was I thinking?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Well we've all noticed the new tie, and I like it! He's looked pretty amazing as of late, even more so that I wasn't able to see him for 2 weeks!! I read the VF article on the way back from Dallas on Monday, and it was great!!

OMG! I just found out I have to work tonight!!! NOOOO After missing all of the previous games except for the 4th quarter of the last game!!! OMG! How am I supposed to work when my Spurs are playing in a HUGE game?!?!?!?!?! My Spurs are in a must win situation, and facing elimination tonight against the Mavs! I still believe that my Spurs will pull through this series, but man o man...I'm gonna be walking on egg shells tonight at work!!!!I guess I'll have to record it, and watch it when I get home!!!

Ok, so my Spurs were leading the series 2-1, no biggie. Game 3 was a nailbiter, losing by one point. Tonight's game, was just a slow and painful death kinda game. I love my Spurs and I'm loyal until the end, but that was not the team I love. We had plenty of great looking shots, but they just wouldn't go in. We'd play good defense, and have a foul called. We'd get hammered on offense, and it was "good defense" by the kings.
Oh well, game 5 is back in San Antone, and I'm pretty sure the Spurs are going to be back mentally, and bring the physical game with them.
Rita's key factor points:
The Spurs have to find away to get Ginobili into the offense, he was practically invisible in tonights game with only 3 points (I still love ya Manu!!)
The Spurs also need to figure out a way to push the tempo. The kings can't handle the Spurs when they run the floor and get into the lane.
We definatly need to stop giving the kings second chance points by grabbing the rebounds (it would help if they would call an over the back every-now-and-then on our behalf)
Anywho, game 5 is this Tuesday, and dang it, I wont be able to watch. Not that I'm busy or anything, but it wont be televised where I'm at (dang I really need to sign up for NBATV) Well that's enough for now, I really need to finish studying for my organic chem final tomorrow morning.....LOYAL 'TILL THE END! OMG!!!!!!! The Spurs took a 2-0 lead over the Kings, thanks to a magnificent three pointer by Brent Barry to send the game into overtime!!!!!! The Kings just couldn't match the Spurs' momentum in overtime and the Spurs won it 128-119! The Kings also had plenty of chances to take the game, and I give them credit, they played very well.
Phew!! What a game!!! I'm off to watch House, M.D now, to take care!!!
The time has come for the NBA playoffs to begin!! My Spurs will take on the kings in the first round, and I'm predicting the Spurs will win it 5 games. (best out of 7 games for those of you that dont know) If you love basketball and want to watch a good game, it'll be on ESPN @ 4:00 pm Central time. GO SPURS GO!!!

Hey everyone! Hope everyone is having an Anderrific Tuesday! Today has been a great day so far!!! Lets see, took a statistics test, set up another doctor's appointmen, got a hair cut and actually did my make up and everything! Well I dont know how many of you out there will be tuning into tonight's special edition of 360, I'll be recording it, but I may try to stay up for the replay either way.
I guess not many people are intrigued by the topic, judging by his blog comments. Usually when Anderson posts, it is flooded with comments. I'm lucky number 2! woohoo! lol.

Well, I'm sitting here watching 360, and I have to tell you I was suprised to see Anderson (dont know why I just had a feeling he wouldn't be here, guess my Ander-radar is needing some recharging) Anywho, today was a pretty blah day, woke up late, went to work, helped my sister pick out a cell phone, saw a blackberry that I want (if you know anything about them good or bad let me know).

The Spurs lost to the Magic on Thursday 92-80. I'm very disappointed, Manu hasn't been playing, but he needs to get healthy.
