why isn't Coop smiling?

Planet in Peril won some sort of award recently. So why isn't Coop smiling in this pic? The only time he smiles is when he is on air joking with Erica Hill? Has anyone else noticed this? I hope and pray he is ok. I've never met Coop but he seems like such a nice guy, and everyone who has met him tells me he is super-nice.

I see in this pic that Coop's cancer stitches are gone.

Picture of the Week 3/29/2008

Sorry to be so late with the picture of the week but blogger was being temperamental last night. At 4:00 AM I gave up. I also have another puzzle for you. Enjoy!

So another dismal Saturday has come and gone. It's cold and gloomy here. It seems Mother Nature either is suffering from PMS or is bipolar. She can't decide if it's winter or spring; so we alternate from one to the other. I love winter, but I hate this back and forth. I would like a little sunshine please. Speaking of sunshine, wasn't Anderson great Friday night on AC360? What was going on with that guy from Time Magazine? He said something about "you can only bring it up in non-polite company, which is how I consider you," what was that all about?? Anderson not polite? Au contraire!! Also, many thanks to Erica for bringing about an amazing Anderson belly laugh. He has the best laugh in the world. No Anderson, it is not, I repeat "not annoying"!

I don't even want to mention Wal-Mart and their despicable behavior. I think they should be the new "they who shall not be named". I think a boycott is an excellent idea. I've read on the blog how so many say they can't afford to shop elsewhere. Other than the prescriptions and a few items here and there, the one near me isn't that cheap. Their grocery prices are downright ridiculous. It's cheaper to go the regular grocery store or wherever they have sales. Anyway, they should be ashamed of themselves. I hope Anderson keeps on this story and maybe eventually they will be shamed into doing the right thing. What scares me most is if she has to go on welfare and stay in a nursing home paid by medicaid. I've had relatives stay in one of those and it's horrible. They are extremely understaffed and their treatment borders on neglect. Now for some sunshine to end this post; the picture of the week and a new Anderpuzzle for your Sunday afternoon.

February Picture of the Month Poll Results

Better late than never, I always say. Although a bit late, here are the results of February's Picture of the Month poll. I have to say, I'm with you, I love this picture.

Anderson reported live from LA last night. I guess he arrived early for his appearance on Leno's show tomorrow night. I didn't care for the panel discussion on Hillary Clinton; it sounded more like a lynch mob. I felt like writing in and saying "why don't you just string her up?" That was the tone of the discussion in my opinion. I wonder why they don't dissect anything Obama says like they do Hillary. On the experience thing, no matter how little being a governor's wife or First Lady and a senator qualifies her to be president, it's still more than Obama has. One thing people overlook is the fact that she was there when her husband was president and no matter how you feel about him, he is well liked by other world leaders and people. It's immeasurable how much of an asset being liked can be.

No blog from Anderson today, but here's a preview of tonight's 360.

Lawsuit against Wal-Mart
We bring you the story of a brain-damaged woman at the center of a lawsuit against Wal-Mart. Hear why she sued... and they won. Tonight, 10 ET http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/anderson.cooper.360/

Also, Erica has a behind the scenes web-only preview. I can't watch video as my computer is too slow so I can't comment on it, but here's the link; Take a look. http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2008/03/26/erica-cam-behind-the-scenes/

GO COOP, GO!

Anderson Cooper totally made mincemeat outta Clinton mouthpiece James Carville last night. It was great.

Carville was, as uaual, running off at the mouth and telling people that he is not a Washington DC insider but Coop didn't buy it. He said something to the effect of " Dude, aren;'t you Mr Washington?" It was one of the best AC one-liners I've heard in a long time. Coop's barb hit Carville right between his serpentine eyes.

Easter Ander-Appearence!

Happy Easter, everyone.

Did y'all catch Coop's report on soccer and David Beckham tonight? Becks in nice-looking for sure, but Coop has his own ethereal beauty. Coop's nose keeps him rugged-looking enough to be handsome rather than too " pretty".

Journalisticly speaking, it was a great piece. Normally I do not view 60 Minutes unless I know Coop is gonna have a piece air on the show.

Gosh, I wish I could take good screencaps, it was a great segment! I shall hopefully have one or two to post tomorrow. Haha one can tell that Anderson isn't much of a sports fan.

Chris wrote about Coop's hands and that one segment he did attempting to cook on Regis and Kelly. Yeah, clearly Coop doesn't do much cooking, but at least he was not squeamish about touching raw meat.

Happy Easter

While on the subject of Regis & Kelly, remember when Anderson was mixing the meatloaf? Well, I sure could've used those large, skillful hands the last couple of days. Two things my hands were not made for; playing the piano and kneading bread dough. The image of Anderson easily mixing all that ground meat popped into my mind as I was struggling with the dough for the Easter bread and nut rolls. Finally, with Mom's help, I got it all done. Everything from the colored eggs, to the Easter cheese and little lamby butter was packed into the Easter basket and blessed. Thankfully, the priest was nice enough to bless it at home since we didn't have anyone this year to haul it to the church for us.

It's a really sad Easter this year since we didn't get any company. I don't know about all of you, but to me it's not a holiday unless you have a house full of relatives. It's extra nice if kids are included. Most of our egg hunts have been indoors since more often than not it's too cold outside, even if we don't have any snow. This year we had sleet, but just a little.

Since I didn't know at the time that no one was coming home, I bought a heap of Easter candy. Every kind imaginable, except for candy corn. Not that I don't like it, I just didn't see it anywhere and I forgot about it. Maybe I'll just hop on over to UPS and ship my nieces an Easter basket. I bought mystery books for Mom so she will have something to read while she munches on her Peppermint Patty, peanut butter cups, marshmallow peeps, clear toy, and coconut bon bons. Remember how they always talk about sitting around and eating bon bons? I think it's sort of like "ladies that do lunch"! So for a day or two we can live like a princess, reading a book and eating bon bons. Surprisingly, I even found rock candy. Mom always talked about rock candy. Now I finally found some. Don't tell, but I already stole a rock or two to try it. Was good!I have to admit I was kind of bummed out that I had to buy my own coconut Easter egg. What's even worse, I had to buy kisses too. The kind wrapped in pastel foil as in Hershey kisses. I bet I had you wondering 'bout that one!

Hope everyone and Anderson has a nice Easter surrounded by all your loved ones.

Here is an Easter treat for you: http://www.jigzone.com/puzzles/F71348EAE44

April 4: Mark your TVios!

Cooper will be co-hosting Regis and Kelly on April 4, according to my sources. Set your Tvio's.

Normally I am not a fan of Regis and Kelly, but when Ac co-hosts in Rege's place I make sure to be able to view it. Ya never know what sort of antics AC will find himself in. The last time he make an appearence on the R and K set, he found himselve the subject( albeit unwittingly) of an improv skit between Kelly and the woman who was a guest( some actress, but since I am not a TV buff I do not recall her name) Anyhow, the subject of the short improv skit was a ...LOVE TRIANGLE! No joke. Ac looked totally embarassed, but the woman sure looked like they were having fun! I'm pretty sure Kelly and the other gal had this planed, but they did not let Cooper in on the secret, as I bet anything Coop would have NOT showed up that day!

It takes a lot of talent to transition from primetime, serious news to silly daytime talk TV. This is another reason why I thnk Coop is " da bomb". Can you all imagine Brian Williams co-hosting a morning chatfest? I sure cannot. Cooper lets a more playful part of his personality come into these co-host gigs with Kelly Ripka.

Sunday!

AC will be on 60 Minutes this Sunday! He is interviewing David Beckham( who, by the way, is not too bad to look at, either)

AC on Campaign Trail

AC will broadcast live from North Carolina tonight, accordng to the 360 blog. I nicked the pic to he right from that site. Enjoy. So, do you think Obama will be honest with AC? I doubt it.
Ac sure has a busy schedule, what with recovering from his surgery and all.
Regarding " trolls' Please, please stay away from this forum. If you have anything to add to our conversation, please do so. I caught a troll yesterday on this blog, they left an anonymous post rambling about all politicians. This isn't the place for those sort of comments. Intelligent conversation is encouraged, but out-and-out attacking is not needed here.

where AC has been this week.

He had not taken time off for personal time. He had a small patch of skin cancer removed from his face. But, according to the Blog, all is well and he'll be back with us tonight( albeit with stitches)

Go to www.cnn.com/360 and follw the link to the boog and read his entry.

We wish him well. He is in my thoughts and prayers.

Look on the blog again, he is on his way to Charlotte, NC , where they are gonna broadcast live tonight.

Anderson in Iraq

Shock & Awe: 5 Years Later
CNN'S award-winning reporters are on the ground in Iraq. Anderson Cooper brings you to the frontlines as only CNN can. Wednesday, 10 p.m. ET

Sounds like Anderson has taken himself off to the war zone again. From our lips to God's ears, let him be safe! I had a feeling he was headed either to Iraq or Afghanistan by the hints he was dropping last week. Also, when they started promoting the Shock & Awe report I thought something might be up. I couldn't see that type or report without Anderson heading to the front lines. At last check he hadn't blogged yet; I'll keep checking for you. It's worrisome when he doesn't blog when he's over there; blogging is what let's us know that he's okay and not caught up in ........well, I don't really want to think about it!

On a lighter note, Happy St. Patrick's Day to all who celebrate. Everyone knows you don't have to be Irish to celebrate St Paddy's Day. Everybody is Irish today!

Anderson's exchange with Obama

So what do you think of Friday's Obama interview?I think AC did an excellent job, but I still think that so much more needs to be looked into regarding Obamma and his relationship with this particulart ' Church". That guy's statements are inflammatory and divisive, to say the least.

Dave Gergen is one of my fave 360 pundits, and he made some excellent points regarding the impact that this will have on the Obama campaign. I DO NOT NOT NOT support Obama . And, in my opinion, he is gonna have a heck of a time campaigning in rural PA.

Anderson comes from one of this nations most eminent families, I am curious to know what he thinks of Obama's pastor's remarks regarding race and class. Lets face it, AC is about as WASPY as one can be. ( and wow, he is the best-looking WASP in the world)

Have a Great Weekend?

Anderson signed off at 3:00 AM with the usual "thanks for watching" and a bonus "have a great weekend"! That was really sweet, but I wonder if I was excluded or exactly what part of the weekend applies. Why you ask? Cause excuse my language but this weekend so far "sucks". Like I said, forgive my language but I'm in a really bad mood. I got up late (not unusual) when I really needed to get up extra early. I went shopping to pick up Easter cards for my Mom's great-grandchildren and some grandchildren (my nieces and nephews). I remember being a little kid and just loved getting presents and greeting cards with a little gift of money inside. Sounds like an easy task, right? Wrong! They didn't have cards that were appropriate. Most of them said "to grandma, grandpa, Mommy, Daddy" etc. Now tell me, how many little kids send greeting cards? So I went fancy schmanzy and hit the Hallmark section of the grocery store. I finally decided which ones I wanted and picked out a couple of first birthday cards as well. While untangling the confusion of who all I needed cards for I called Mom for assistance. She really picked up my mood (beware of sarcasm) by telling me we weren't getting company for Easter after all. Why do people tell you bad news ahead of time? I could've happily gone through this whole week looking forward to Easter and having company. Now I'll be in a lousy mood all week! Well, depending on 360, Anderson may help my mood a bit. It's been known to happen; a giggle here and there, a funny clip for The Shot, or a silly exchange with Erica. I guess there's a little bit of hope.

Anyway, I got home with the groceries and unloaded the trunk. After paying a fortune for eggs, chickens must be living in 5th Avenue penthouses and eating caviar considering how expensive eggs are; I proceeded into the cellar, opened the refrigerator door, and dropped one of the bags on the cement. Of course, it wasn't the bag holding the 3 packages of meatloaf mix, nor the two bottles of RC cola. Nooooo, it was the bag holding 3 dozen of eggs. I have to tell you I felt like swearing, even though I rarely use those kinds of words. Luckily, I did end up with a dozen and a half that weren't even cracked. So "yes Virginia, there will be colored eggs this year." We will also be making something that takes an indeterminate number of eggs considering 2 were really smashed and 3 were cracked to varying degrees and leaked unknown amounts of whites and bits of yolk.

Now, how will I get the Easter basket of food blessed this year with no one to take it to church for us?

Hope you are all having a great weekend and good luck with all your Easter preparations.

R and K Screencap

Enjoy, everyone.

Once in a Blue Moon

For those of you who know me, you'll be amazed that I'm blogging this early. Being up this early only happens once in a blue moon. There isn't much that will get me out of bed before noon, especially when I don't get to sleep till after 4:00AM. But Anderson was on Regis & Kelly this morning so naturally I had to watch. More on that later.

Tonight on AC360, Michele Obama will be profiled. Also, an interesting blog by Drew Griffin. He talks about standing in front of the apartment building of the young woman Kristen, who finds herself suddenly in the spotlight of the media. His concern with the story of high priced escort services (sounds much classier than "hookers") is that it is being glamorized. If you have a chance, take a look: http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/anderson.cooper.360/

We probably won't have a blog from Anderson since he was substituting for Regis this morning. Don't mean to make you feel bad if you missed it, but it was a fantastic show and Anderson looked great as usual. The improv with Kelly and Cheryl Hines was priceless. My heart went out to Anderson though; he looked so uncomfortable! You'd think with all the admirers he has that he would be used to it by now. Although I think that is part of his charm.

yet again

Ok I am really getting ticked off at ALL the networks.

All Spitzer, all the time.

I ranted about it on my other blog.

Tonight's AC360

It sounds like many are suffering from Spitzer Fatigue. I think it's much like Katrina fatigue; I don't think we're close enough to it to qualify for fatigue. It's going to be covered once again tonight on AC360 since Elliot Spitzer resigned as governor today.

Spitzer Sex Scandal
We go inside the club at the center of the Spitzer sex scandal. Plus, Spitzer's wife and others involved with men who stray...Why do they stay? Watch tonight at 10 ET
http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/anderson.cooper.360/

Why do they stay?
I can't believe how much coverage this question is getting! To me, it's a no brainer. Why? Because they love their husbands. All the years together, all they've shared, all the obstacles they've overcome together. That's why they stay. Let's not forget one more - their future. In a word, love. Love is why they stay. They love their husbands. They made a vow, for better or for worse. Am I the only one who still believes in these vows?

There's a little phrase that I've heard that really gets me thinking; would you give up all you have for what you want? Most of us think if we just had this one thing our lives would be perfect. We rarely think of getting our greatest wish at the expense of all that we have. Turn this around to the Spitzer situation; would you throw away your future over one present day hurtful event, a current indiscretion? Would you let your pride deprive you of having your love for the rest of your life?

Maybe he strayed, but if she needed him, would he not be there for her? We can't answer that question, but it's something to think about before we drown her in our opinions. I think all this speculation of how she feels and what she should do does a great disservice to her. It's bad enough she is stuck in this mess, but now she has to listen to every pundit's opinion of her for "standing by her man". That phrase is getting overused these days and starting to sound like a disgrace. It shouldn't be. I don't think it's a character flaw. It's easy to stand by someone when everything is good. The real test is to stick by them when they are down. That's when we really need our families, friends, those who are supposed to love us.

My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family and I hope they can fight their way through this, and come out stronger and closer as a family. Hopefully they can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Overkill

Anyone else annoyed by the overkill of ALL the media outlets regarding the Spitzer mess? I know I am, and I have not even watched 360 yet! Good grief.

I mean, I know its news and all, but the 360 blog has at least four separate blog entries about the Spitzer story. Four? My gosh, one would suffice.

I just had to vent.

A Sad Goodbye

Well, the tree is down, the shiny brites packed away, and the pretty little colored lights are gone. *sniff* It's so depressing when the Christmas stuff comes down and you're back to gloomy and dreary. I have to thank Candy Crowley for sharing her little secret that her Christmas decorations were still up. Upon reading her blog and coming across that little tidbit I grinned and said to myself "yayy, I'm not the only one!" I ran downstairs and proudly told Mom that other people still have their stuff up. Of course, Mom's no dummy and she instantly reminded me that Candy had a good reason. Candy Crowley has been traveling around the country covering the primaries. I don't have such an excuse. My excuse is.... uhm......uhm.... well! Ohhhh, I like it, okay?? I procrastinate. I put if off as long as I can because I don't like going on to the "I don't have anything to look forward to" season. For me, Christmas is the best time of year. It's the one thing I have to look forward to. I don't have expensive lunches with Anderson Cooper to plan for like the guy last year or the two women this year. I'm not rich enough and even if I was I can't travel now. So forgive my over extended Christmas holiday.
I bid my season farewell by alternating watching movies and taking the tree down. Last night I watched "Prancer" with Sam Elliot. That man has a great voice, second only to Anderson. I still think he should be given an audition for the voice of AC360. But I digress, the movie is sweet and a tearjerker. Sam plays a gruff, no nonsense Daddy. No hugs and kisses and sweet tender moments. At least not until the end where you get the inevitable teary eyed father holding his little girl. I loved that part; her little head resting on his big strong shoulder and his large hands clutching her back. She cries against his shoulder and being wrapped in his arms she finds love and comfort. Their relationship is clarified and the closeness they find is heartwarming.
No matter how old we are, how much we grow, or how much we mature; we girls all long for that shoulder to lean on and those strong arms to hold us.
For now though, let's hope we at least have our Anderson back on the screen tonight. I hate these three day weekends!

NEWS FLASH: AC on R and K!

Set your Tvios for Regis and Kelly for MARCH 13, 2008. Thats one week from today. Ac is subbing for Rege.

So any wagers on whether or not AC will attempt cooking? I doubt it. Haha no wonder he is so skinny.:)

I hope he has some new jokes to tell Kelly.

Thursday, March 06, 2008

Ok, If AC smiles I will smile too

If AC likes having Erica on the set, then I will like her, too. I admit, I love seeing that famous smile of his more often on the show and she does lighten things up. We've surely seen more of that smile of his now that she is there.

So, I stand corrected.

Chelsea Clinton

Tonight on AC360, The Chelsea Factor Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
She's stumping for her mom, but shunning the press. What effect will Chelsea Clinton have on Hillary's campaign? Watch tonight at 10 ET.

Unfortunately, Anderson didn't make it two in a row; blogging. However, there's an interesting blog entry by Gary Tuchman. CNN was invited to spend some time with Chelsea Clinton before, during , and after she spoke with students at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. They were not permitted to question her though. It's an interesting blog, Take a look: http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2008/03/06/chelsea-clinton-speaking-out-for-her-mom/#more-326

Last night's AC360 was fantastic; streakers, talk about bits and pieces, sticky wickets. Let's not forget the giggles complete with amazing dimples. Didn't Erica seem especially enthusiastic about the streaker? Hehehe! I'm with her on that one. But the part about overdoing the phrase "bits and pieces", not possible. What was she thinking? Dont' discourage Anderson, we like hearing him talk about bits and pieces.

Oh yeah, there was some politics and news too.

Picture of the Week 03/02/08

Well since I like the screencap that was posted earlier so much I've decided to official make it the picture of the week (even though it's a tad late...oops!) but better late than never right?

CNN's other " Silver Fox"

Meow!! Chief National Correspondent John King. Gray hair, blue eyes, .....geee sound familiar. I love him and his " magic election map".

" Crucial Tuesday"

For sure AC and the rest of CNN will be franticly busy tonight. I am looking forward to the results coming in, as I sued to live in Ohio. I am NOT a supporter of Obama or Clinton, but it will be funb to see them beat each other up tonight. THere WILL Be a winner and a loser, and whomever loses shall be making snide remarks.

AC is such a good journalist that no one knows what side of the political scene is cheers for! Haha a couple of evenings ago on the 360 live blog some posters were asking Coop whom he supported in this election and that sly Coop totally skirted the question. But that is why, as a journalist, I admire and respect him so much.

As for Erica, she is growing on me. Perhaps Soledad shook her into shape when she ( Soledad) subbed for AC on Friday evening.

Monday, March 03, 2008

Hope you all had a great Monday. The weather here was gorgeous; warm and sunny. I was enjoying walking through downtown sans coat or sweater until I realized what a mess it's going to be tomorrow. They are forecasting snow tomorrow, warm Wednesday, snow again Thursday. I think the weather is suffering from Bipolar disorder.

Clinton's Catholic Support
Hillary Clinton might be on the ropes, but she could be down for the count if it weren't for Catholic Democrats and their fervent support. They've backed the winning candidate for in every election since 1972... will they pull through for Clinton? Tonight, 10 ET

No blog from Anderson today, but I read Gary Tuchman's pertaining to Hillary Clinton's Catholic Support. A couple of the comments caught my eye. I don't know if it's permissable to copy and paste blog comments so I will just post the link. http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2008/03/03/catholics-for-clinton-lots-of-them/

Being Catholic myself, I tend to take notice of other opinions, whether they be from Catholics or other people's feelings on the subject. I always considered most Catholics, other than myself, to be rather conservative. It was surprising to see that someone else thought the exact opposite. It's funny when you're a Clinton supporter, be it President Clinton or Hillary, you feel like you have to justify your position. Often I find myself defending them, like it's a necessity. Morality often comes up. I have a problem with people questioning their morality. To me, morality involves more than just sexual matters. I've noticed that people seem to think President Bush scores higher on matters relating to morality than President Clinton, because Clinton engaged in extra-marital relations. However, I feel that leaving thousands of people helpless and stranded after Hurricane Katrina is also a matter of morality. As we all know, this administration under Bush's leadership failed miserably in the aftermath of Katrina, and to this day for that matter. Isn't this even worse than Clinton's moral lapse? At least Clinton's lapse hurt no one, but himself and his family, and Monica.

I'm surprised no one is mentioning the Katrina debacle during this primary season. I wish the candidates would be questioned on how they plan to prevent this from happening again and how they will return FEMA to it's former glory, if you will. During President Clinton's administration, FEMA was always being praised; what happened and how can they regain their prompt and expert response to disasters?

It's been a long weekend and hopefully Anderson will be back tonight. I hope it isn't from Afghanistan or Iraq! Here's a picture for your Monday, it's an oldie but a goodie.
