Random Post

I'm sitting here watching Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers with my dad, and don't get me wrong I LOVE these movies (and omg Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn just makes my night!!!), but I just wanted to rant.

As many of you may or may not know, I'm a college flute player. I'm sitting first chair since my freshman year, and since this year we have 5 flutes who can actually play, I'm putting together a flute choir. I'm sooo excited! I went to our first practice today with 3 instruments (not knowing which I would be playing) a piccolo, my flute, and bass flute. Well, what do you know, I ended up coming home with 4 flutes; I added on an alto flute! So much fun!!

Well I've had my current flute going on 8 years now, and it's a wonderful flute; but I was browsing the net, and omg I so want to upgrade! I would love to have a "professional" flute, to enchance my tone and all that good stuff. So I'm trying to convince the parentals on giving me a hand.

I would also love to own my own piccolo too. I'd love to own my own alto and bass too, but that's getting a bit pricey!!

Well enough with my random rants, hope everyone is enjoying the show!!

Hey Rita - you sound so excited; that's good, excited is good. Flutes are great; my brother played one is school, as well as my sister and niece. One question though, I didn't realize there were "professional flutes", what's the difference between those and regular flutes?

Good luck with it, it sounds like fun.

AndysGirl: Well there are really 3 types of flutes, "student", "intermediate", and "professional"

The intermediate flute, like the one I have, has a sterling silver headjoint; the professional flutes are made entirely of sterling silver, thus having a better tone quality automatically.
