Many people say they will 'go back to school later' but often life gets in the way of that. Your love of animals is a deep love, whatever you do, make sure that somehow/someway you end up working with them. That will be your bliss. It may take many years to become a vet, but the time and money will be well spent. You will love what you do.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21838739.post-3265946523207571572006-09-20T22:21:00.000-05:002006-09-20T22:21:00.000-05:00I wish i could be of help to you but i'm afraid i'...I wish i could be of help to you but i'm afraid i'm not but i can totally relate with what you are feeling, i've doing my job for a little less that 10 years now, i love it but sometimes i wonder if this is what i was supposed to be doing. i tried hard to shift careers before but, i don't have experience so they won't give me a chance. (i want to be a social worker)

sometimes i'm thinking, a lot of people are dying out there due to lack of food or water and i'm here beating deadlines for something that won't change the world even for a bit. it can really get frustrating at times.

i wish you all best! find your bliss, rita, follow your heart!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21838739.post-86602460644274057562006-09-20T22:17:00.000-05:002006-09-20T22:17:00.000-05:00Sidney: I changed my mind because I really don't ...Sidney: I changed my mind because I really don't want to have to go to school another 8 years or so (even though I know it would be worth it)I don't know, I had gotten really into lab work, but somehow it's not fitting together. Money isn't a problem, not that I can afford it easily, but I know that it would be a great investment.

Andysgirl: Thanks for the encouraging words!

Carmietex: No, I'm not an Aggie, I always wanted to go to vet school there, because it IS such an amazing school.

Thank you to each of you for commenting, it means alot!Ritahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15073679251029043174noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21838739.post-51206352975712697252006-09-20T20:08:00.000-05:002006-09-20T20:08:00.000-05:00Do I detect an Aggie here?

And A&M has one of the
best veterinary schools in the
world!

Explore other fields through
summer employment. I...Hey Rita - I wish you luck at finding our bliss. I never have, neither in a career or in my personal life. There are so many environmental groups now that I'm sure would provide opportunities. Also, I agree with Sidney, if the reason is monetary, I would at least reconsider. If you're chosen field pays well, even if you go into debt, your salary will help you pay it off. Know any poor doctors? They go deeply in debt, but the income is so high they pay it off in no time.

Whatever you decide, I hope you will be happy with it. Like Anderson says, you don't have to know exactly what you want to do, just take little steps in the right direction and little by little you'll find out you headed where you want to go. Forgive me, I had to paraphrase a little.

@SidnAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21838739.post-10748760851701203632006-09-20T18:37:00.000-05:002006-09-20T18:37:00.000-05:00Just out of curiosity, what made you change your m...Just out of curiosity, what made you change your mind about vet school? I had the opportunity to go 10 years ago, then changed my mind. My reasons at the time were monetary, but to this day I regret that decision.

I told myself there were other ways to fulfill my desire to help animals without going up to my eyeballs in debt. I did work as a vet tech for several years, but the pay is so low I was finally forced to choose between my bliss and making a living. I now work in an office and make a decent salary, but it's just a job, nothing that I'm passionate about.

True bliss is doing what you love AND getting paid for it. Not all vets make a lot of money, but I least would've been able to make a living.

You certainly don't have to get rich; but you want to make sure to go into a field that no only makes you happy, but that you can afford to stay in for as long as you want.sydneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09232982952078269554noreply@blogger.com
